Chapter 12: The pet

"Well that was the goriest fight that I have ever witnessed in my life" Molly exclaimed. "No kidding. Mike said still shaken up. "Sorry about that." I said with a twang of regret. "What do we do now?" Elizabeth asked with a puzzled expression. "You guys should lay low especially you Lucas." Molly said pointing at me." "OK I guess the reason why is because of me hiding my powers. Also what about the other school what will happen to them?" I asked. "Take a couple of weeks off. Let this school calm down before you come back." Molly said. With that we left the school. "Guys I think it would be best if we went are separate ways until we get called back." Clara said "OK" we all said. With that we all left. I decided to go running in the woods it always help me to think. After a few miles there was a clearing that had two big trees in the middle. "Perfect place for a tree house" I thought as I walked around the trees. "This would serve as a place for me to go while school is out and when I am in town. Also I would not have to pay for an apartment." I thought while smiling. I started to work on the trees after two weeks I had finished. It looked good if I have to say to myself. Suddenly I heard a snarl coming from behind. I swung my head around and look to see what that was. I heard it again it was something in trouble. I raced to the scene to see a wild wolf beating attacked by a pack of coyotes. They were tearing and slashing at the underbelly of the wolf. I felt pity for the wolf so I jumped in and slashed one of the coyotes. It fell dead the others started to circle me. I changed enough to where I growled and my eyes to change. That sent the running with their tail between their legs. I turned around to see the wolf still growing at me. The will of fire in her eyes would not go away. Just then I heard a small growl from behind her. It was a boy pup who has a little bit of his ear torn off." So that's why she would not give up she was protecting her cub." I thought I changed into my wolf form and showed her that I would not hurt her. She started whining as I looked into her eyes I knew. She was scared and sad that she would be gone and her cub would die alone. I had tears running down my face I put my hand on her soft white fur which was tainted red. I pushed every emotion towards her saying that I would take care of her cub. She understood as she gave a strained bark, as the burning fire left her eyes so did her spirit. I said a quick prayer and howled at the sky. The cub whinged at her mom trying to get her to move. I picked up the mom and carried her back to the house. I dug her grave in the front of the house. The pup had followed is back. On the grave it said: HERE LIES ONE OF THE BEST MOTHERS EVER WHO WOULD DIE TRYING TO PROTECT HER CUB. I looked back at the cub he had the look of a broken heart. I knew how he felt. "I will call you Sparky because of your the spark in your eyes." I said he looked up at me and wagged his tail. His coat was as white as snow it was beautiful. Over the next two weeks I taught him how to hunt, how to sit, how to fetch, and I taught him how to signal me if there is danger. He would come running if I called him. He grew big almost as big as me the wound on his ear turned into a scar. His muscles became ripped and knotty. He now knew how to hunt on his own. As he was out on his own hunt I heard him howl that meant he was in trouble. I raced over there on all fours as I came over a small hill I saw that he was ambushed by three mountain lions. They were clawing at him I saw that he was on the ground on of them had jaws around his neck. I raced over there I was not going to make it in time. I thought of my parents and the mother wolf that I had made a promise to. Suddenly I felt something in my mind click. I felt electric energy surging through me. An inner voice inside me said one word "swing." I threw a claw hand out and I felt all the bent up energy shoot out. Next thing I know big red energy is coming out like three long lines. They hit the lions and ripped them in half. I ran over to Sparky and picked him up and ran back to the house. Set him down an bandaged his wounds. I knew he was. It going to make it. I started crying over his body. His eyes told me that he was glad I was there. I felt something again this time in my heart like someone was sucking a sliver of life out of my. I saw a little beam of light come out of my body it covered Sparky's body. He was healing! I did not notice how tired I was until I had passed out. I awoke to someone talking to me "Lucas you there." It was a guy his voice sounded young but had a little gravely ring to it. I opened my eyes to see Sparky sniffing me. He was huge bigger than me! His eyes were no longer brown they were red! "Oh yay your awake!" He said without moving his mouth. " I can hear you!" I said while standing up. "Really!" He yipped "yes!" I exclaimed "what is happening!" I thought.
