We found Mags at our District's apartment, waiting patiently for us to get back from the Opening Ceremony. Finnick and I both greeted her with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, before she motioned for us to follow her back into the elevator we had just come from.

Higher and higher we went, the one glass window in the elevator allowing us to see just how high we were, the city below gradually getting smaller.

Finally, the automatic doors of the elevator opened with a quiet 'ping' and the three of us walked out onto the highest level of the building- the rooftop.

The night air was cool, and slightly windy as we all silently watched the city of the Capitol with its tall buildings, bright lights, and strangely dressed people.

"So what is it you wanted to talk to us about Mags?" Finnick asks after a while.

She puts a finger to her lips in a 'hushing' motion, and then taps her ear, telling us without speaking, that others could be listening. 'Others' being the Capitol.

There has been a lot of speculation over why Mags never speaks. People back home in District 4 say that Mags doesn't talk, because after her Games she was in so much shock that she never spoke again, or that one of the other tributes tried to slit her throat, and they had to take out her vocal chords... But I don't believe any of that. I think that Mags doesn't speak because she knows the wisdom of silence.

Mags gives me a folded note, which has a golden MockingJay printed on the front. Finnick leans over my shoulder as I open it and read;

Finnick and Serena,

I have both seen and heard of your talents in the Arena, and I believe that you two would be a great asset to the rebellion. This is our only chance to fuel this fight, and what I am asking you both to do may cost your lives. We need you to protect Peeta and Katniss. Katniss is the Mocking Jay, and without her, there will be no rebellion. No chance to overthrow the Capitol. The reason I also ask you to protect Peeta, is because Katniss cannot be the MockingJay on her own. She needs Peeta by her side. You are not the only ones who have been asked to do this, other Tributes have been asked to aid us, know that you are not alone if you choose to join the rebellion.
Make your decision wisely.

Kind regards, Hamitch.

"I'm in." Finnick stated solemnly, crossing his arms over his chest, a gold bangle gleaming on his wrist, "I'll do it."

Mags placed her hand on Finnick's cheek and smiled. She then turned to me, waiting for my reply.

I couldn't help but hesitate for a moment, fiddling with the golden flame necklace around my neck, my heart beating frantically against my rib cage. I thought about what my family would do without me, if I died helping the rebellion. But I knew that my family was already under the threat of President Snow, and that doing this could help save them. I have to do it.

"I'm in too."
