TW: Mention of child abuse(╥﹏╥)

It didn't take long for the warrant to be finalised. Stephanie thanked the lady for the second time and made her way to the... interrogation room.

She glanced at her wristwatch. "3:25," she mumbled softly, looking at it while she walked. When she lifted her head she was met with the scariest thing known to mankind and beyond.

William turned around and grinned. He was no longer wearing an orange jumpsuit, nor any handcuffs seeing as his hands were smug behind his back. Stephanie kind of preferred him that way.

Now he was wearing a dark purple waistcoat with a thin soft purple shirt underneath, and a black tie. Stephanie went further down. She thought he was skinny... He basically had twigs for legs. He was wearing black slacks and matching dress shoes.

Stephanie blinked in astonishment at the uncomfortably suave man before her. "Um," she said. "Where did you get those?"

"Nowhere important," William answered, clapping his hands together excitedly. "Now. When do we leave? This place is beginning to make me go a tad bit insane." He tilted his to the lift head and narrowed his eyes absently as if he was listening to something being spoken to him.

He rolled his eyes, and began to talk to himself as if he was in a heated conversation with someone next to him. "Puppet, we've been over this. I'll be careful." He paused before smirking. "Hey, it's not my fault you decided to devote all your magic to keep me alive, that's on you, my dear." Another pause, he's smug look fallen on his face as he winced. "Alright, no need to yell, I can hear you perfectly!"

Stephanie stared at the odd scene she had just witnessed, confused and slightly, but only slightly, concerned. "Aren't you already insane?" she asked timidly, afraid he might retaliate on her.

William met her gaze once more and seemed slightly surprised to find her standing there. "Oh, right, you're still here. My apologies. That was awfully rude of me, leaving you hanging like that. Stopped for a wee chat there, you see? Come along then! We've not a moment to lose."

He turned and waved enthusiastically to the guard behind them who stared with a look of down right distaste. It made William's grin widen.

Stephanie shrugged and the two of them walked to the door. William paused, seemingly contemplating, before stepping into the bright afternoon sun. He squinted at its intensity.

"It's much brighter than I remember," he claimed and held his arm to cover his eyes. "And warmer. God, it's burning hell out here."

"Yeah, well," Stephanie said as William began rolling up his sleeves to his elbows. "Global warming hasn't really been the nicest thing on Earth."

Suddenly a sharp pain shot William in the back of his neck. He winced and immediately smacked his neck, examining his hand for a dead insect body.

"The mosquitos are quite violent, I must say," he said angrily, wiping his actually clean hand on his trousers.

As they got into the car William couldn't help but stare in awe at the advanced technology. He touched every single button on the dashboard at least thrice. Stephanie had to smack his hand everytime from changing the radio channel or switching on the phone. What was she carrying around with her? A psychopath or a child?!

As soon as they got to their destination in the middle of absolute nowhere, Stephanie had never felt more relieved in her entire life.

"That was fun," William beamed as he got out of the car.

"For one of us," Stephanie muttered under her breath and slammed her door shut. She examined the one-story building in front of them.

It was rundown and broken, overgrown with vines curling and making its way through the building, exposing its skeletal structure. The large front windows were shattered, littering the cracked asphalt of the parking lot, and the walls had been maimed by graffiti.
