Chapter One - Yes Please

It was Amelia's first day every riding with Katherine, a high class trainer, for everything Arabians . She was so exited and when Christmas time came around (Month before show season started up) Amelia was hoping she'd get lucky and finally get a horse to show and bond with . She knew Katherine and her parents we're talking quite often, but she wasn't quite sure what about . She had many ideas but none were positive yet . The day of Christmas her parents blindfolded her, put in earplugs AND nose plus . Then they got in their car . They drove for about 15 minutes before the car came to their destination . Amelia was guided out of the car not capable of hearing NOR seeing anything, not even smelling . They first took at the ear plugs, then nose plugs, then the blind fold . They were sitting in an unfamiliar tack room with Katherine . Then she heard a whinny then a sneeze . Amelia turned around only to see a beautiful Arabian bay gelding sitting outside of the tack room standing tall and proud . She fell in love . Her parents and Katherine asked if she wanted to test ride him . Katherine explained he was a Hunter/Eq Horse and also does Showmanship and Halter . Amelia thought he was perfect !
Once the owner came out she immediately asked, "Do you wanna' tack em' up or do we gotta' do it?"
"No Ma'am . I'd like to if you wouldn't mind," Amelia Responded .
"As long as you wanna' sweetheart ."
"Yes Please !" As Amelia reached to grab his lead rope and and follow the lady to the crossties as she proceeded to put him in them .
"Can you tell me anything about him ?" Amelia asked the owner .
"Well, This here, is Cant Beat the Thrill, Thriller for short . He's a Purebred Arabian Gelding Hunter . He's showed in Pleasure, Equitation, SportHorse under saddle and in hand, Showmanship, halter, and western at an amateur level . He is 15.4 Hands High and was foaled in 2008 which would make him 6 Years old now but he's very mellow and patient ." The owner gladly responded . Amelia looked at him and shared a gaze into his beautiful sparkly dark brown eyes . All she could do was smile in excitement . She finished her soft brush off and grabbed a pair of polo wraps, martingale, saddle pad, saddle, girth, and bridle . She rode him in a D-Ring Smooth Snaffle and couldn't be shaking with excitement anymore she could barley place the bit in thrillers mouth . As she tightened his girth and put the reins through the martingale he didn't even flinch . She was happy with him already . She placed her foot in the stirrup and slowly pulled herself up onto Thriller . He stood still and had great manners as she re-tightened the girth and adjusted her stirrups while still on his back . Once she was all set she gathered her reins up and squeezed on his belly and they started walking . His head was perfectly collected and set . Katherine grinned at Amelia's parents . It's as if Katherine knew it was gonna go just how she planned . Soon after Amelia got a better comfortable feel she asked him for a slow collect sitting trot . She shortened her reins a hair collected him up a little extra so he head didn't move throughout the transition she applied leg and they were trotting ! He felt so smooth and graceful under her seat . She began to ask more of him as she became comfortable and went on into a posting/working trot . He moved beautifully with her as if they were one . Katherine was so proud of Amelia as she gave small tips as they went around such as, Look up , More Collection , Dont let him drop his inside and/or outside shoulder and such . Amelia began to canter and he was so smooth and nice and slow but not too slow . Amelia was in love . She reversed and became to like him more only to figure out he's the best horse to do flying changes on . They continued cantering the other direction and towards the end she was set on him . She asked if she could take one more trot and canter for a video . They started to record but right as she picked up the canter he grabbed the wrong lead and a horse fly came and bit Thriller on the croup . Thriller took off bucking and Amelia didn't go with him . . . Unfortunately nobody saw the horse fly and thought we was just too crazy and too young . Although Amelia insisted on trying again her parents refused to buy him . She was heart broken . She was so close to have her dream horse . She began to cry while sitting on the floor as the owner was holding the horse on the other side of the arena . She asked if she could get on one last time just so she wasn't afraid . Everyone gladly agreed . She took one lap at a trot, and before anyone said no one lap at the canter . He was the best he'd been all day . It's as if he felt guilty for accidentally bucking her off .
"I think he likes you Amelia," said the owner , "and i ain't just sayin' that cause i wanna' sell em' . I mean it ."
"I wish i could have him," Amelia sighed , "but one mistake and they just drop it all . I've made mistakes before . Why cant he ?" Amelia's parents came to the crossties after a long discussion with Katherine . They had their mind set to go check out another horse at a different barn 20 minutes away . As they slowly walked up they came to find Amelia holding his chin which was rested in her hands as they touched foreheads and she gently kisssed his blaze as she said her goodbye's to him as the stablehand Maxwell took him away .
"How Much ?" Amelia's Father asked .
"Pardon ?" the owner responded .
"How much is it gonna' cost me to make her happy ?" . The owner grabbed a pen and napkin and wrote a price on in . He read it as his eyes widened .
"I better not regret this ." he said as he glanced at Amelia .
"OH MY GOSH REALLY !?" Amelia said in awe . "THANK YOU SO MUCH ! I SWEAR YOU WON'T REGRET IT ! " So with that they loaded up Thriller and legally on document there it said , Cant Beat the Thrill and his proud owner Amelia Avalon .
