I woke up, covered in sweat and not remembering anything. Not who I was, not where I was, nothing. The sand burned my skin as the flies buzzed all around me. I stood up trying to balance myself but my fatigued and aching body wanted nothing more than to just collapse back onto the sand and my heavy eyelids to close and send me into a sleep that would most likely kill me out here in the open. I looked around, taking in my surroundings and hopefully looking for any clues that would tell me where I am, but all I could see for miles upon miles was sand. Sand stretched as far as the eye could see. The only shelter that could be found in the vast open space of this never ending desert was an old, abandoned looking cabin situated behind me. A small, wooden cabin that looks like it's about the fall apart but it's the only shelter from this blistering heat beating down on my already worn out skin. I walk towards it. Needing to get out of this goddamn sun before it kills me. Literally.. Most likely boiling all the fluid in my body keeping me alive. I take two steps, heaving my exhausted and blistered feet through the scalding hot sand, before my body gives out and I fall to the ground, a crumpled ball in its last efforts to protect itself . My eyes slowly close as my mind gives into the everlasting darkness that promises relief from this harsh reality. Waiting for me to succumb to the black void that offers peace. As my eyes slowly flutter closed and my muscles start to relax all through my aching body something, a shadow like object, moves through my line of vision, but I'm out before I even get a chance to think of what it could be. Succumbed to the sleep like death that had been waiting for me.
