After the Welcoming Feast, as everyone became quiet, Professor McGonagall stood up to speak again.
"Now that you all are done with your meals, I hope," She said. "I may explain all of the rules. Well, to the first years, welcome! And to all the others, welcome back! The forbidden forest is forbidden to everyone and they must not enter it. AND they definitely will NOT enter it for detention." Several people giggled. They got it.
"Anyways, students also will not be allowed to be outside their dorms in curfew." McGonagall finished.
"Now," she continued "Onto the important part for all of the eight years." Harry and all the others started paying attention. Well, Hermione made them.
"You all will have the same common room and your uniform ties will be black. You can sit at any table BUT, you will not be able to play quidditch." At this many people including Harry Ron and Ginny groaned. Harry saw that Malfoy seemed perfectly fine about it.
"So we will have to deal with Malfoy and his gang now?" Ron said.
"Ronald, I don't think Malfoy has a gang anymore. Besides, I don't think Nott and Greengrass hang out with him. And neither he needs them much." Hermione pointed out. Harry agreed.
Malfoy did seem pretty lonely, and Nott and Greengrass HAD been in another compartment. They were clearly not hanging out with Malfoy anymore.
"That's kinda depressing, don't you think Harry?" Ginny asked him. Harry nodded. "Maybe, he isn't that bad anymore Ron. We can all just ignore him." Harry said. Ron reluctantly nodded in agreement.
Before McGonagall had dispersed them, they were told that the eighth years have their own rooms because less people were there. Professor Flitwick led them to their common room which was located in one of the towers.
Harry gaped at the sight. It was decorated with all the four house colours, the walls were darker than their old common room's walls. They were a lot brighter than the Slytherin one's.
There was a long cozy couch, a bean bag, more couches and stuff, coloured in various dark shades of the four colours. On the floor above them, were the dormitories.
There were no separate dormitories for the girls, you can say there were basically 12 rooms for:
Theodore Nott
Harry Potter
Draco Malfoy
Ronald Weasley
Hermione Granger
Neville Longbottom
Hannah Abott
Daphne Greengrass
Parvati Patil
Lavender Brown
Dean Thomas
Seamus Finnigan
Professor Flitwick told all of them that these rooms were all house themed for each of them, meaning that for example, Dean is a Gryffindor, so his room will be Gryffindor themed.
------
After all of this, all of them decided to settle down. Apparently Professor Flitwick had also told them all to 'bond'. And Draco had mentally scoffed.
After visiting his room and putting everything down (Room was ObViOsLY Slytherin themed) he went out again since he had been forced to. Not many people liked that, but Granger had told all of them to come. She really was stubborn.
Draco came down and akwardly sat in the bean bag, Brown, who was coming to sit on it immediately moved away in disgust when she probably thought she came 'too close to a Death eater'
Draco was not making eye contact with anyone. This was going to be horrible.
He also wanted to go visit Myrtle but he had to be stuck with all of them. Probably going to get harassed.
-------
"Alright everyone" Hermione said. "So since we all are here, why not try get a little friendly with each other? The war is over and we should all put our differences aside."
Several people rolled their eyes. Then Parvati spoke up, "I don't think I am being friends with a death eater." They all laughed except for the trio.
Harry needed to stand up to him, he saw Draco look down at his feet. He surprisingly felt bad for him.
"Like Hermione said, Parvati, we need to put our differences aside. Stop harassing others because of the war. The Malfoys were probably forgiven for a reason." He said. People were looking at him aghast. Draco looked at Harry in surprise.
Ron said nothing. And Nott and Greengrass were also quiet. They of course, did not have any beef against the 'Slytherin Prince' and the prince himself, seemed to have shattered completely.
----------
"Well, anyways, we should go to bed now." Thomas finally said. They all nodded in agreement and went back to their rooms.
Draco had to admit that he was thankful to Harry for standing up for him. But he had also showed himself vulnerable and hated himself for it.
You will be strong. Was the last thing he thought before his eyelids closed.
