Jake stared out at the turquoise water. It was almost sunset and he had to soon return home. But still he stared at the blue water. How he wished he could be like water. Flowing without any boundaries. Restless. Emotionless.
He finally looked up. He saw the green hills and the white building across the lake. He had liked that building, now he hated it. Out of the pale building came a woman. She was dressed in a bright red dress and her black hair swept down onto her shoulders. She seemed to fade away. Her name was Allison and he loved her. Jake smiled and waved at her.
“Allison!” he cried out. “Over here!”
She looked towards him, but did not respond. Instead she walked away, her feet making absolutely no sound on the hard rock floor. He remembered the day he had met Allison, down at the market on a cold, wet day. He had bought her flowers and when she excepted them his heart warmed up and made his day. Everyday since that moment he had thought about her at least once.
Jake stared out at the turquoise water once again. Allison had passed away fifteen years ago in a tragic accident when it was almost sunset by the lake.
