An experiment gone wrong.

That's how this all started.

"Neil, I really don't think this is a good idea." Mori said, trying to coax his colleague out of making any rash decisions.

"Calm down, Mori. If I can do this, ability users will be even stronger than before!" Neil Gaiman, a foreign scientist said insistently.

Neil Gaiman had been working in Japan for quite some time, and when the battle against the Guild occurred, he knew that he had to help the ability users of Yokohama and help them protect the city. He had been working for years to create an ability enhancing serum that would make the ability users practically invincible.

Neil was a fellow ability user, but didn't engage in combat. His ability was called "Graveyard". This ability allowed him to summon an entity named "Nobody", or "Bod" for short, and Bod would be his guide and helper.

"But isn't that bad? If this is successful and if people like Fyodor get their hands on this, it's going to cause chaos for not just Yokohama, but the entire world."

"Bah. Nonsense, Mori. We won't let that happen. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to ask the test subject to come in." Neil ushered the other doctor out the door and invited the test subject, one of the more unknown ability users.

"Ok, sir. I'm going to inject this serum into your bloodstream. After a few moments, tell me if you feel any stronger, or if you feel you have more control over your ability." Neil instructed, syringe in hand.

'With this serum, I could create an entire army of invincible ability users.' Neil thought to himself.

"Neil-sama, we can't guarantee that this is going to work, there are many things that could go wrong." Bod floated at Neil's side and tried to stop his master.

"I don't care. Thousands of lives could be saved with this" Neil said sharply, determined to reach his goal.

And with that, Neil dismissed Bod and the entity disappeared, leaving the scientist alone with the test subject.

"Ok, here we go." Neil breathed shallowly as he poked the man's skin and soon injected the needle.

He took a few steps back and waited for any violent reactions. Nothing so far. That was good.

"So, do you feel any stronger? Or do you feel that you have more control over your ability?" Neil interrogated the man from a safe distance.

"No, nothing ye-" the man started to say before he suddenly started writhing in pain. His flesh turning pinker and hair from his head started to fall out. White foam started to spill out of his mouth as if he was rabid.

He then looked at Neil with hungry eyes.

Neil stared back in fear, his body not responding to anything his brain was telling him.

Neil backed himself against the door, realizing there was nowhere left to go.

The man, now turned strange creature lunged at him.

"Mori!!" Neil shouted.

Mori heard his name called out, and it was soon followed by a thud against the door and a growl.

He looked at the window of the door, and suddenly a terrifying creature covered in fresh blood showed its face.

Taken by surprise, Mori quickly hid behind the nearest wall, hoping the creature didn't notice him.

Soon, he heard scratching and banging at the door. Next thing he knew, he saw the metal door fly past him and a sudden blur of pink.

'What the hell was that?! Was that the test subject? Did he kill Neil? What's his ability?!' questions started racing through Mori's brain.

After recovering from the shock, Mori frantically grabbed the file on Neil's desk which contained all the necessary information about the test subject.

'Ability. Ability. What's his ability?' Mori's eyes scanned over the information until they landed on what he needed.

Ability: Contagion

This ability allows the user to spread thing such as thoughts, pain, disease, etc. The user would be the main source of the spread, but those whom he spreads to can also infect others. Whatever is being spread can be spread through blood exposure.

After reading the description of the man's ability, his head whipped to the glass entrance door and saw what he had feared most.

The pink creature was now free in the streets of Yokohama and was going absolutely wild.

The creature pounced onto the nearest person, a woman carrying groceries, and scratched her neck.

Blood dripped down her neck as she let out a blood-curdling scream.

The creature released her and ran off to who knows where.

Other bystanders witnessed the event in shock and got closer to the woman to see if she was alright.

The lady was curled up in a ball in the middle of the streets, her chest heaving up and down as she seemed to have trouble breathing.

Soon, the same thing that happened in the lab started to happen to her. Her skin turning pink as if she was burning rapidly under the sun, her long silky black hair falling out in tufts.

When she looked up at the crowd, her mouth was frothing with white foam as she snarled viciously.

The bystanders gasped in horror, and some of them even screamed at the sight.

Mori stood behind the door, paralyzed by shock and fear. He watched as the ordinary people started to run off, and the lady, now turned creature ran off chasing some poor being.

Soon, Mori recollected his scattered thoughts and immediately called Hirotsu of the Port Mafia.

"Mori-san?"

"Hirotsu, listen to me. There are rabid creatures roaming the city and they are extremely dangerous. If they do much as scratch you and draw blood, you will turn into one of them. Inform all Port Mafia members and evacuate the streets."

"I- I understand. I will do so now."

Once Hirotsu hung up, he immediately called up Fukuzawa-dono of the Armed Detective Agency. Even though they didn't exactly get along, they both had to protect the city.

"Mori? What do you want?"

"Fukuzawa-dono, hear me out. The city is in danger. Creatures are loose in the city and they are a threat. They can turn you into one of them just by scratching you. Please believe me. We must save the city together once again."

"Ok, I trust you, Mori. I'll inform the rest of the agency."

And with that, Fukuzawa hung up.

That incident was 3 months ago.

They weren't able to save the city.

Most of the city's population had either died or turned into one of the creatures.

Only a few survived. The Port Mafia executives and the Armed Detective Agency.

They were going to find a cure for this. No matter what.
