"Hey mom, can you tell me that story again...? Oh! And can you play the music box as well?" I ask, excited for my birthday tomorrow. "Again? Ok honey, but you'll probably cry with the music box as well..." Mom said, knowing how emotional I can get with these things. "Don't worry! Plus, I'll be six tomorrow! I'll be a big girl! I can take it!" "Ok...well then I'll be happy to!" Mom smiled gently as she cranked the music box, playing a catchy tune that sounded happy, yet sad. Like a rainbow while a storm is occurring. She told the story of a girl who ran into a magic animal with her friend one day, while another girl warned her, for the animal was evil. The girls became magical girls, but where mislead. They were killed one by one, with the animal being the ringmaster of this terrible show. Yet, the story has a happy ending, where the main character, "Madoka", who I feel a strong connection with turns into a god to save all magical girls from their fait. As Mom tells the story, I hold the locket with a drawing of Madoka in it close to my heart. I treasure the locket more than my own life. Madoka is special to me. This story is special to me. I feel...as if something similar happened in another life...or will happen in the future....it's a...how do I put this...bittersweet feeling...I want a life of adventure, and friends, and magic. Yet, at the cost of my life? No for me...or at least
I thought.........

Several years past since then. I stopped thinking of magic the same way. I understood the dark, morbid meanings behind the story. I was...............six, seven, eight, nine, ten,......then...at the age of 11...it happened......
"O-Oh gosh....I'll be late...." I quietly say to myself, running to school. "Oh, hey! I got here juuuust in time!" I skip to my classroom, humming the song to the music box. I sit down, and the teacher starts the lessons. This was a normal day.... until I saw a fluffy tail from behind the door. "Mrs...can I be excused for a moment...?" I ask, curious of the tail. "Yes, yes you may." I walk out of the bathroom, and chase the tail. The more I chase, the more I see of it. Two rings on something....ummmm......ears! A face....oh...it's...wait no....can it be...? I chase it into the janitor's closet, and I see the whole figure. "H-Hello....are you-" "Yes, I am! I'm the animal from the story, Kyuubey. Nice to finally meet you, Ayume Kagime!" he responded, before I can finish my sentence. While catching my breath, I dust off my dark blue uniform and pinch myself. "Th-This has...this has to be a dream....not the fact that you're real...I believe that...it's just...why me be a magical girl? There are others out there who would make great magical girls and witches...and you choose..me...?" I ask, full of confusion and disbelief. "Hm? You know about the system? Oh well. Ayumu, I want you to-!" "Make a contract and become a magical girl...*sigh*...am I right..." "Hm? Oh, yes! Please, take your time making a decision on a wish. Make one a soon as you can!" "........." I couldn't say a word....what the hell just happened....I don't...I don't want to become a witch.....
