Chapter 23 - The Raid

~ The next day~

Shortly after Yuno, Kaito and I had our conversation, we were informed that a spy from eye of the midnight sun had been following Asta. Lady Mereoleona decided to then move the raid day to the next morning

And that brings us to where we are now

Everyone stands outside the floating dungeon, looking up with different facial expressions. Some looked terrified, others looked ready to fight

By others i mean specifically Asta and Yuno

'This is it'

Looking back at Yuno's expression, his gaze is locked on the floating rock in front of us. He looks down and nods at me as I let out a breath and tell Kaito to change into his human form. I give Yuno's hand a tight squeeze before letting it go and averting my gaze to the stone model one of the knights created. A map of the inside is shown and my gaze tails up and down, figuring out where the bridges between rooms are and what leads where. A bright light shines from a middle room and Lady Mereoleona figures that would be their boss. Other lights also show in different places showing the different power levels of everyone there. 

"We can't let them know how many of us there are, so splitting up would be the best option" Lady Mereoleona proceeds to explain. "We'll now split you into five groups and proceed"

'Most likely I'll be with Yuno and the rest, but I don't think that's the best option. Kaito and I should go on our own to scout around'

"Group one will attack from the upper left; En Ringard, Nils Ragus, Nozel Silva, and Shiren Tium. Group two will attack from the lower left; Ben Befunk, Luck Voltia, Noelle Silva, and Kirsch Vermillion. Group three will attack from the upper right; Ruben Shagger, Rill Boismortier, Fragil Tormenta, and Puli Angel. Group four will attack from the lower left; Klaus Lunettes, Mimosa Vermillion, Yuno, and Hamon Caseus. And we'll attack from the front and center, myself, Asta, Zora Ideale, Y/n and Kaito"

'This works too'

Yuno and I nod goodbye going our separate ways. Once inside, Lady Mereoleona stops me. 

"I need you to scout ahead and take out as many enemies as possible. I don't care how you do it, just don't fail"

"Right" I salute and turn to Kaito. "Come on we've got work to do."

Kaito and I race forward after. We only get a little bit further when members start to trickle out.

'One...three...five' 

"Looks like it's playtime Kaito; Fire magic: Dragon king's roar" The fire takes the form of a dragon and starts charging towards the enemies. Kaito mimics my movement and sends forth his own magic. Screams started to echo through the hall as Kaito and I exchange glances and begin to move forward. A malicious feeling of mana fills the air that sends shivers up my spine and I assume Kaito also felt it, being that he flinched a bit. 

"They really aren't playing around anymore" He mutters, eyes narrowing at the flame covered hallway

"Yeah...but lucky for us, neither are we" I smirk and we both start running down the hall trying to find more members. After taking out a good amount of them, I find myself beginning to get closer to the strong mana, as much as I tried to ignore it, not because I was scared, but because Lady Mereoleona only told me to go for the weaker members first and then join up with her after. 

I change direction and run again, Kaito following closely behind. I feel it get closer and closer to me as I grit my teeth.

"Kaito!" He nods as I continue. "Dark magic: Shadow takeover" We both get pulled into the shadows and wait. Soon enough,a male wearing a robe that is worn by eye of the midnight sun comes through the hall. He stops directly in front of me and starts to look around
