Chapter 39

I looked at the building in front of me. Exactly the type of place where you would kidnap someone. Well, in this case, I was walking into the territory of the kidnaper. To kill him.

The security guards checked me with a metal detector. I expected them to tell me to strip or something. Surprisingly, the detector did not detect the knife strapped to my thigh. Maybe that was why it was special. Sadly, my gun was taken away and my phone too. But no problem. I'm sure there were plenty of guns inside if I needed one.

Colton was sitting with his legs in the table. I made sure I locked the door to his office. I might get some extra time before the security kicks in.

"Good move" he smirked as he got up.

"Why did you kill Jamie? What had she fucking done to you?" I shouted and my eyes teared up.

"It was the only way you would come to me." He got up and pinned me against the wall.

I reached for my knife and took it in my hands. But he was too distracted by my lips to notice. Good.

"I did come to you" I stabbed him in his guts, "To kill you." Then in his chest.. He shouted in pain. But I quickly placed my hand on his mouth. I could tell it was getting harder for him to breathe and he was suffering. Now I had only a few minutes until his guards came. I decided to call for help as I didn't exactly have a plan to escape.

I took Colton's phone and dialled Enzo's number. While the phone connected, I stabbed Colton several times trough his heart to make sure he did not survive. I flinched at what I was doing but reminded myself that even if this is a bad thing, this was for a good cause.

"Hello" Enzo spoke from the other end.

"Enzo, this is Rose." He put the phone on speaker. He was in a crowded place

"Hi Rose"  I don't know why Carter was there but that's good. We can have more men.

"Enzo, Carter I don't know where I am. I guess its 17th street downtown but it is Colton's place. Track this phone. And you might want to bring some men because there might be war. Oh and yes, I killed Colton. Don't tell this to Kai, it's a surprise for his birthday." I said, proud of myself.

"Whoa!" I heard people on the other side of the door.

"Sorry I don't have time. Gotta go. Do what I said." and I quickly hanged up. I hid the phone in my back pocket. Just then the door flung open.

That was when a huge and tattooed man along with guards entered. He looked at Colton's body and his fists and jaw clenched. One of the guards checked for pulse.

"Boss is dead, sir." he told the man.

"You got the nerves to kill Colton?" he hissed with rage.

"Seeing as I already have, I think yes." I replied with sass.

"You are not going back." He pounced on me. And so did the other men. Before I could do anything, they tied me to a chair.

"What are you doing?" I felt myself suddenly go weak. Not now, brain. Please.

"Punishing you." he took out a knife from his pocket.

"For what?"

"For killing our capo of course." he dragged the knife along my arm. "I want to make your dying as slow and painful as possible. I am going to cut apart all of your skin." and he made the first cut. It stung like hell. He continued this all over my left arm.

"Rose Chambers aren't you?" he asked making what felt like the thousandth cut.

"Rose Parker" I corrected him and wondered when Carter and Enzo would come.

"Oh but I know you are the daughter of Angelo Chambers. He didn't even try to find his own daughter." that was enough to piss me off. As if I wasn't already but I had gone too weak. But it seemed like he knew something I did not. So I gathered up the little strength left in me and started questioning him. 

"What do you mean? Colton's dad had sent dad a video of him killing me who apparently wasn't me but some innocent two year old."

"Do you even know how that innocent got there?"

*Flashback*     *Rose's second birthday party*

Third Person POV

"If you don't stop now, you are going to end up eating all the cake, Rose. And not to mention you have already ate too much sugar." 10 year old Carter told his sister. 

She just frowned trying to say that she wanted more cake.

"No sissy." he shook his head. But she frowned again, tears threatening to leave her eyes.

"More." she pouted.

"Okay. Stay here I will ask mom." he placed her on high chair so that she could not get down.

She was busy playing with her fairy wings when a boy little older than her approached her.

"Hey! Mommy tells me it's your birthday so happy birthday! I am Kai" he offered her his hand.

"Rose." she leaned forward to touch his hand with a smile on her face.

"Happy Birthday" he gave her a chocolate. She took it without responding, getting distracted by the chocolate. The boy ran away when he saw a huge balloon lying on the ground.

"Hey child, do you want some cake?" a man approached her holding cake in his hands.

"Come with me." he said when she took the cake and picked her up in his arms. He put her in a car and stopped on a deserted street on the outskirts of the city.

"Colton, I will be back in a few. Make sure she does not go away." he said to a 8 year old boy busy playing a game on his phone. He hardly looked his uncle's way.

Rose saw a colourful, tiny butterfly and ran away, chasing it.

"Colton! Where is the girl?!" the man asked when he couldn't see the girl.

"I don't know. I was playing my game." he shrugged.

"Oh no Colton. You messed it up. We are in deep shit. Davon is going to be so angry." he ran a hand through his hair before taking away the phone from his hand.

"Go in the car. I will look for the girl and come back." he said.

He started looking for her everywhere but he could not find her. He finally found a similar looking girl who his boss would easily mistake for Rose.

*Present*

I was trying my best to stay conscious. The story Carmelo, Colton's right hand man and his uncle had told me wasn't helping. It made me sick. How could they kill an innocent little child? He made sure I paid back. He had made deep cuts all over my body. I was pretty sure they were infected. Because I was sure I wouldn't last long. I was fighting myself to stay conscious. When would Enzo and Carter come?

The door opened and Carmelo came back. He came straight to me and started dragging me. That was the last thing I remembered before I passed out.

Hey!

I thought the flashback was a good idea. And Kai and Rose had met before, when they were kids. How cute!

I am so happy that Rose killed Colton. I didn't want this story to have the cliché stuff where the girl gets kidnapped and the guy kills the villain to get her back.
