One day Bella was staring at the Cullen's old lunch table when a new kid took a seat there. She got mad and confronted him about it and after that he clung to her. After being annoyed at first she adapts to the newfound friendship and is comforted by his presence similarly to how she is comforted by Jacob's. While getting closer to Jacob outside of school she also gets closer to the new guy during school. The new guy then confides in her that the real reason he came to Forks was to find his birth father. He was adopted and his parents told him that's all the information they had about his birth parents. He asked them about where he came from after he shifted for the first time. His father is a member of the Quileute tribe. Bella introduces him to Jacob at the movies when she invites him along to go to the movies with them and Mike.
