The sound of a bird chirping, a peaceful morning sun, fresh, clean sheet- FUCK. It's time.
I got up as fast as I could, only to realise that it was just 5 AM. Two more hours. Two more hours before my alarm would ring; two more hours until my new life would begin. The life I had always dreamt of. Sounds like the perfect cliche, doesn't it? But at this point, it was one of the few things I could look forward to, since everything that has happened. And, well...Shit happened. You know, being a Hogwarts graduate and an intern at an organization that protects the magical world comes with its responsibilities. And, uh, risks. Almost losing your life trying to lift a curse from a small village, for example. Or, accidentally summoning a demon and having to deal with the creature that keeps haunting you. And your friends defeating your shadow-self, but you almost going down as well. Damn, that also makes quite a good story for tea parties.Everything that has happened definitely had its impact, but on the other hand, it has shaped me into the person I am. Now I'm done with it, though. I mean, I've been preparing for so many new things. Picking up my daily things, making happy memories. Moving on...Keeping the focus on what's right in front of me.
The alarm clock, for example. 5:20. 5:21. 5.22- HELP.
Okay. I'm going to teach. I'm actually going to teach. I'm going to actually be responsible for a group of kids. A group of young witches and wizards, relying on me as their...teacher. What the actual-
In a rage of panic, I got up. I started scrolling through my phone. I could ring Alex? But she would still be asleep at this time. Audrey's working on a case.. Vina? No Alvina is busy too. Well, she'd make time for me, but-
Noah. Noah should be awake. If someone could give me advise for my first day, it would be an experienced teacher himself.
I rang his phone number. It took a while before a soft and slightly confused "hello?" could be heard. "Noah? Noah? You're awake? Oh thank god. I-..." I was going a bit too fast, apparently. "Caro?". I could hear rumbling at Noah's side of the line for a few seconds. "Oh, oops. Were you still in bed?"
"Yeah...what time is it?"
"Something over 5...5 AM..." I said, slightly embarrassed.
"You doofus. Why're you awake at this time?" Noah said, still sounding sleepy.
"School. School. Is it normal to be scared?"
I could hear Noah thinking out loud, like he always did. "Fi- first...day? Ah, of course! Your first day on the job, right? But Carolyn, no need to stress, alright?"
"No need to stress? Are you serious? I need to do well, if I don't, I.. I'm done for! The kids are going to hate me and-"
I noticed that Noah started to chuckle.
"What? What's so funny?!" I said, slightly confused.
"Nothing..You just remind me of myself. I was exactly like you, Caro. But let me tell you, no need to stress."
"Easier said than done, mister perfect. Your lectures always seem to be freaking flawless!"
"I wish they were. Wanna know about my first one? That was one hell of a nightmare", Noah laughed, while explaining the rather silly story. "I forgot everything. I tripped over my own feet. I spilled coffee on my desk, because I was shaking like a leaf. The students learned nothing about artifacts or spells that day, but they did learn that the secret isn't always perfection. And you should hold on to that too, Caro. It's all in your attitude, your mindset."
"That's...deep. I guess you're right, though. I mean...You're always right."
"That turned into an inspirational speech real' quick, didn't it?", Noah said. I started laughing. "Yeah, it did. But maybe that's exactly what I needed. Thanks, Noah"
"No problem, Caro. But if you don't mind, I'm gonna catch some more sleep. As should you!"
"You're right..Of course, you're right again. Well, sleep tight Carter!"
"You too", Noah yawned. "Good luck, Caro! "We both hung up.
Perfection, coffee, artifacts...Noah's wise words were still floating around in my mind. But there were still 36 minutes to go.
5:24 AM.
Almost time to get up.______________________________
