Chapter 2:

Suddenly the spinning stops and my vision comes back to normal. I look around to see a fairly busy Diagon Alley. I sigh as I smile and look around. Man, I really love breathing fresh air.

"Snape already has your textbooks set at school along with your wand and your cauldron. Let's just grab you a fresh uniform, since you probably grew out of your old one. Then after we can go home and say hello to your father before we go to Hogwarts tomorrow morning." My mother says beaming at me. I flinch at the mention of my father. Would he really want to see me? I mean, he can't be mad at me. Everything I did was for my family.

"Sounds amazing mom! I missed sleeping in my bed." I say.

"I bet you do! Jeeny (house elf) has been cleaning your room and it is in pristine condition! And yikes I can't wait to redo your hair tonight. Gosh your blonde locks are grown out and tangled. I can fix it in minutes though, not to worry! Let's go!" my mother grabs my hand and we hurriedly walk to Madam Malkin's robe shop.

I've always had a pretty good relationship with my mother. I was a momma's girl. Always getting my hair done and painting my nails. I could tell my mother anything. I felt so loved every time she spoke to me. My father on the other hand, I was never too sure. I always thought that everything he did was to protect his family, but after what happened two years ago, I'm not sure if he still has the motivation to do that anymore.

Despite the fact I truly am soft at heart, I've always put on a hard exterior. I never wanted anyone to see me vulnerable. I always thought I had to be strong and stern. My first year at Hogwarts was great. I was sorted into Slytherin and made a few friends. But never too many. I always seemed to drive them away with my attitude. Halfway through my second year, Draco's first, is when I got sent to Azkaban. I shudder at my thoughts thinking of all the rumours that will surface when I come back to school.

As my mother and I walk down to Madam Malkin's, I can't help but notice people's obvious stares. I mean I would assume it is because I'm still in my ripped and dirty Azkaban uniform and mangled hair, but it's obvious that the stares are because of my time in Azkaban. Tessa Malfoy was seen in the Daily Prophet after word got out that a literal 12 year old was taken to Azkaban.  After quickly getting fitted, my mother purchases my new robes and we apparate home.

I am greeted by a squeaky voice as I land in my large living room.

"Master Tessa is back! Jeeny has cleaned Master Tessa's room! It is in pristine condition for Master Tessa!" I smile down at Jeeny. Oh how I missed her little face.

"Jeeny! Take these up to Tessa's trunk and make sure she is all packed for school tomorrow." Mother quips.

"Yes Master! Jeeny will get Master Tessa's trunk all ready for Hogwarts!" Jeeny takes my new uniform and disappears upstairs.

"Your father should be home any second now. Let's fix that hair and get you a fresh set of clothes before he arrives." I nod at my mother's words and rush upstairs to my room. I quickly open my door and gaze at my beautiful room. Too bad I'm only going to stay here one night. As I turn to my wardrobe, I come to the realization that I might not have any clothes that fit me anymore. I was sent to Azkaban when I was twelve and now being fourteen, I wasn't sure if my twelve year old body's clothes would do me justice. My eyes widen in surprise as I open my wardrobe door to see that all my old clothes have been replaced with new, bigger ones.

"Jeeny helped Master Tessa's mother organize Master Tessa's clothes! Jeeny hopes Master Tessa likes the new selection!" I spin around to see Jeeny standing on my nightstand. I giggle as I walk over and hug her. Jeeny has been the house elf I grew up with since I was a baby. She was best friends with Dobby. Speaking of which...

"Jeeny I missed you! Where's Dobby? I wanna say hi to him too!" Jeeny shakes her head.

"Dobby was set free by a boy last year! Master Tessa's father was very angry and almost killed the boy. But Dobby is now a free elf!" I smiled. I know my family was always rude to the house elves but I couldn't help but be nice to them behind their backs.

"That's great Jeeny! One day, you will be a free elf! I will make sure of it." Jeeny gives me the cutest smile and soon snaps her fingers to leave me alone in my room to change. I decided to take a quick shower to clean myself before getting dressed. After about 15 minutes, I find myself picking up a simple black fitted dress with thin straps and putting on some simple black heels. It's been a while since I've been able to wear real clothes. Soon, I hear a gentle knock on my door and my mother opens it.

"Oh sweetie you look beautiful!" my mother gasps as she cups my face and stares into my eyes. "Come to the beauty room! Let's fix your hair." She pulls me away to our beauty room where she sits me in front of the vanity. With a simple wave of her wand she dries and combs out my hair. She then mutters a spell over my hair to touch up the blonde hair that lies under the first layer of my brunette locks. This spell changes my hair at the root, so when it grows out, it will grow blonde instead of brown. She then takes two pieces of my hair and pins it back out of my face. After she finishes my hair, she grabs my hand and we head downstairs. At the bottom of the steps, I look into my father's waiting eyes.

"Hello daughter. Welcome back."
