the future is here -the aliens are god
Hewas an avid Chess player.
Helooked like a cross between Montgomery Burns and Bruce Lee...
Heused to take strolls in the park, in the mornings, breathing freshair and practising his sloppy martial arts, that he learned in hishappy youth.
Comingback from the park, watching the Sun come out, he was amazed by itsbeams invading the small Universe of a small city , as he stared atthe square in front of him.
Hewas listening to Prog Rock music: Genesis: A trick of the tail
Thatday (it was mid-September) he went to play chess with an old friendof his, mentally insane and younger than him,who came up with theidea of
playinga game in an old castle, property of his uncle, in the outskirts ofthe City, in a countryside village near the hills...
Theytook Franky's car. But Montgomery wanted to drive, thinking aboutFrank's insanity, feeling it would have been better for him, todrive.
Drivingto reach the countryside always had a positive, relaxing effect onhim, as he hated the city noises and rhythms.
Ashe drove towards the hills, he began to feel a huge sense ofnostalgia, like the landscape, the fields, and the small brick houseswere familiar to him, like he lived there, in a past life, maybe inthe seventeen hundreds, or something...
Theyreached the Castle by sunset.
Itlooked like an ordinary medieval building, probably renovated in thelate Sixties, or early Seventies...he could tell it from watching thewindows and the drapes: pink, orange, with indian drawings, flowers, probably lotus
Hewas lured by the warm light coming from the inside of the Castle, especially from the bedroom, that he could see from the outside, thru' the window with the indian drapes, while he and Frank wereslowly entering the front door.
Theyhad just walked into the building, when an incredible vision leftthem amazed: a giant floor chessboard, in the middle of the hugehall.
Theatmosphere was magical: seven huge windows, Art Nouveaux style...theSun rays passing thru' them, casting different colors, as they weremoving inside the hall.
Amaranth,Coral, Desert Sand, Magenta Rose, Orange-Red, Orchid, Blue, BlueGreen...all these colors mixed together in the big hall...as thecouple of friends kept standing in the middle of the huge chessboard
Franknoticed a small door on the right corner of the big room...a small, dark, sinister black hole, that was in complete contrast with thejoyous, magical atmosphere
