Chapter One: Ordinary Day

My life was as average and boring as it could possibly get. It wasn't terrible, don't get me wrong. I had great friends and good grades, but it lacked something. I could never understand what. My whole life I was just waiting for something to happen. You see in the movies people going on great adventures and having the time of their life all the time. I guess I was just waiting for life to throw me an adventure. But one day it didn't just throw me an adventure, it shoved me an entirely different life. Now that I'm living in what I thought to be an "exciting and adventurous" life, I would give anything to go back to my "average and boring" one.

It was just another normal and boring day when it all happened.

I looked in the mirror of the girls bathroom and began to touch up my make up. I outlined my hazel eyes with my favorite black eyeliner and added on more and more layers of mascara. As I ran my fingers through my black hair I began to think to myself,

I hope he notices.

I usually never dress this good or pay this much attention to my make up. But last week me and my boyfriend broke up. Well, he broke up with me. I feel my eyes water every time I begin to think about it.

We had been going out for about a month and a half and he made me more happy than I could possibly imagine. I don't know what went wrong. On the day he broke up with me, he just changed. Ignored me all day. Then at the end of school while I was standing around with all of my friends, he comes up and breaks up with me. I was completely heart broken and embarrassed. I walked home crying. And at home, there was no sympathy. I just got a long lecture from my mom saying that I'm just a freshman and shouldn't be concerned with boys and blah blah blah. Me and my mom don't exactly see eye to eye.

But for the past week I've been trying to look my best to show him that I'm better off without him. Even when I'm really not. But I can't let him think that!

The bell rang for class and I took a final look in the mirror. My hair fell perfectly past my shoulders and my lip gloss made my lips stand out. I smoothed out my tight black skirt and pulled on my white lace top. I popped out the collar of my short jean jacket and re wrapped my scarf around my neck. I tied the laces on my studded combat boots and made my way to biology.

Biology was the only class I had with Blake (my ex). We used to sit right across from each other at the same table, but luckily we switched seats not to long ago. Now he sits at the table diagonal from mine. Now he can just look how good I look today and he'll be wishing he never broke up with me!

I pulled open the door and headed straight for my best friend Becky. Blake was standing near her so I walked over and put on my fake smile.

I struck up a happy and loud conversation with Becky in hopes that Blake would over hear.

"Are you doing anything on the weekend? I need someone to go with me to Jake's party."

I didn't know a Jake and Becky didn't know one either, but she knew what I was trying to do.

"Oh, no I can't. But hey, you should go with Steve! I told him I wouldn't tell you, but he has a big crush on you!"

I watched Blake from the corner of my eye and I could tell he was listening in to what we were saying.

I smiled and said, "Really?"

"Ya! But don't tell him I told you!"

I walked over to my seat and set my bag down next to my chair. As I sat down, class began.

Biology passed slowly and I could hardly stay awake. My teacher Mr. Rockwell was in the middle of a lecture on Mitosis when the door suddenly swung open. Everyone's attention shifted over and we saw about ten men pile into our class room. They were all wearing dark clothing. I looked closer and realized that their skin were purple and their eyes were a deep red. Their nails looked razor sharp.
