Pictures had been thrown off the cracked walls and now lay amid their shattered casings. Furniture had been blown apart, their stuffing falling out like blood.

Everything was fine one minute. He had made sure she would stay safe. But now as he stood here in the wreckage of her house, he knew that the deal had been broken. His heart hammered painfully as he found the first body, the body of his life-long enemy. There was no blood or sign of a painful death. There never was.

The figure stepped across the body-there would be time to deal with that later-and hurried up the stairs. They couldn't really be called stairs anymore, for they bad been blown apart, leaving chunks of carpet and splintered wood layering an ominous path to the nursery upstairs.

He was faintly aware of the baby's cry as he drew closer to the fateful scene. As he threw himself into the room, he stopped dead in his tracks.

A young boy lay in his crib on his back, crying hysterically. His forehead was smeared with crimson blood. The man's wide black eyes dropped down to the floor beside the crib, and his aching heart broke into a million pieces.

Her beautiful pale face. Her intense green eyes.

Blank. Devoid of the life they once held in abundance.

As he fell to his knees, only one thought consumed him.

A\N So this is the first part of the sequel! I've started my next classes and am kind of drowning in the work (I'm not at all dramatic XD) so updates will probably be very inconsistent which I apologize for, I would love to be that kind of writer that's got everything organized. But alas, I am not capable of that.
Anyways, I hope you liked this little introduction to Prophecies and Betrayals and come back for chapter 1!
