<-|The End|->
"No one knew what was going to happen. . No one saw it coming. ."
A woman was running down an abandoned road, panting heavily as she was holding something wrapped up in a blanket tightly against her chest, allowing her hands to hold her pistol and the small metal suitcase that was handcuffed to her left hand. The streets below her were cracked while other parts of the road were rather broken off by the powerful earthquake that runs down the city at least twice a week, leaving the buildings to hang on more before they would one day give up and fall to the ground, or been broken by those savages that dared to kill those who still had humanity.
"No one was prepared to be killed or separated by loved ones."
As the dead walkers were moaning towards the woman, She took a few shots, headshotting at least five of the walkers while running by. She was soon terrified as the thing inside the blanket began to cry, a baby cry being muffled yet was loud enough to alert the runners nearby.
"Well, At least. . . I didn't."
"SHIT!!" The woman yelped as she quickly ran as fast as she could down the street, turning her head as she looked for a place to hide, The crying getting more louder and heartbreaking. The runners were beginning to get closer to the woman, the woman soon noticing the abandoned drug store, her gasp turning a laugh of hope as she quickly made her way to the direction of the drug store.
"I lost everything. . . "
She ran inside and quickly shut the doors, sliding a steel broom between the handles before being pushed out the door's way from the powerful force the runner gave impact on, all runners slamming themselves to try and break in.
"My home. . My family. . . My Husband and kids are nowhere to be found. . . I'm still looking for them. . ."
The woman fell on her side and groaned, slowly sitting up but got up as she soon regained her focus and started to push a shelf like isle towards the door, the baby still crying as the growls and loud groans could be heard getting more and more tense by the second.
" My best friend and her family are gone, nowhere to be found. . . I hope she's alive. . "
The woman soon pushed the isle shelf to the doors, panting heavily as the entrance was well secured, for now.
" Everything went to complete shit. . "
The woman slowly backed away as she started to look around, trying to look for medicines, bandages, anything useful.
"It was hard to go by but. . "
She cursed to herself as she saw most of the isles empty, growling to herself but softly patted the baby to calm it down, the thing that nearly cost her life.
"After five years of this hell. . . It's been nothing too bad now."
She soon grinned as she saw some antibiotics, snatching them, then soon sighed in relief as she had opened it and found it full.
" Let me tell you my story, if you're so interested. . . "
"Fucking thank you God-!" She paused as she finished that sentence, her smile and her joy slowly turning into sadness and doubt. She slowly shook her head as she walked over to the staff room at the back of the drug store, leaning against a wall as she slid down it, continuing to pat the baby until it stopped crying.
The woman pulled down her hood, her short curly brown hair catching a breath as she pushed her bangs to the side, her eyes filled with worry as she pulled out a Walkman. "Maybe this would cheer you up, Bud. . ."
The woman smiled slightly as the walkman played a song she remembered after so many years. It was the main theme song of Phantom of the Opera. The woman smiled sadly as she remembered watching the movie with her best friends so many years ago, the baby began to coo softly as it played with the cloth. The woman smiled sadly.
"You like this song, hm?" The woman played with the baby's short hair, the baby staring at her, curious as the woman smiled a bit.
"Yeah, Me too."
