Avengers Secondary School(British version of High School)

First Day Back

Maria's POV
It was the first day back at my dads boarding school. Me, Carol, Valkyrie, Peggy, Wanda, Jane, Darcy and Pepper had a sleepover at my house so we all could go to school together in the morning. My mom Victoria Hand was divorced to my dad after constant arguments and he took my twin sister Natasha with him when he left, we don't talk anymore but we will end up having to talk because me and her would most likely be in the same classes.

"Bye girls and remember if you want to come home you can and you can all stay round mine so your parents think your still here" My mum said to me and my friends. A chorus of 'byes' and 'yays' followed. We walked to the rest of our friend group which were the boys Thor, Clint, Sam, Steve, Daniel, Bucky/James, Tony, Bruce and Betty because she couldn't make the sleepover. We all headed down to the lecture hall where we were getting the new school year speech. We sat in the back row, me in between Sam and Carol. The voice of my dad spoke up as I stretched out and laid my head on Sam's shoulder, legs on Carol and Valkyrie as I fell asleep.

"Ok students. I'd like to welcome you to SHIELD boarding school. Those of you who aren't freshman will know me as Principal Fury and Natasha and Marias father." A spotlight shone on me and Natasha who was sat in the front row. Carol nudged me as she woke me up.
"What?" I said clearly annoyed she woke me up, that's when I realised the light. I just groaned and waved, The spotlight going away. But now I can't go back to sleep, suddenly the words the "dorm rooms are" got my attention.
"Next is Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, Thor Odinson and Daniel Sousa in dorm 453. Then Tony Stark in dorm 452. And last but not least Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers in dorm 451 for the boys"
"Next for the girls is Jane Foster, Wanda Maximoff, Darcy Lewis and Peggy Carter and Elizabeth Ross in Dorm 449. Then Carol Danvers, Valkyrie Brunnhilde, Pepper Potts, Natasha Fury and Maria Hand in dorm 450. I went wide-eyed at the last dorm for the girls. Of course the boys rooms were no surprise.
"Well students that's all for now you will all have the timetable to your lessons, a study set and keys for your dorm room in your dorm at the kitchen counter in them. I will dismiss you all to unpack now" my dad said before leaving us all to get up. We al walked to the given dorm, me, Carol, Val and Pepper all got to our dorm leaving Natasha behind. We all went to claim a room. I got the biggest one which was right next to the balcony, the opposite side of the balcony was Carol and Vals room, Peppers was next to the kitchen and Natasha's was right next to the door when you walk in as that was the only room left.
I made my bed with the navy blue and red double bed sized duvet, set up all my study stuff and charged my laptop and phone, put up some fairy lights and the note board with pictures with me and my friend group over the years. Then I got a call from my mom.
"Hey mom everything okay" I asked concern rising.
"Not exactly. Maria, I haven't been completely honest with you. When your dad left and took Natasha I started to do drugs and started self harming again. And now I took a bit to many drugs after I got home  and I'm going to die soon they gave me a day max til I flatline" My mom said sounding like she was on her death bed, which she obviously was now. I was on the verge of tears.
"Mom... I- why didn't you tell me sooner. Now I'll never get to see you again" I said through shaky breaths.
"I know Ria but it's the best for both of us. You can live a happy life with your dad and sister without me ruining it"  she replied.
"No mom. You didn't ruin it. I heard the argument when you said you were divorcing each other, I heard all of them. It was never your fault, dads the one who cheated. Not you. You can't do this to me. Not now not ever until your 90 years old and have lived a full life."
"I know and I'm sorry but I've got to go. I can't handle the pain looking at a mini version of me and your dad. It hurts to much. I've got to go now bye I lo-" she said before being cut off.
"Mom?MOM?!" I said breathI got getting faster.
"Hello? Is this Victoria Hands daughter Maria Hand?" A voice asked
"Yes. Why? What happened to my mom?!"
"I'm sorry to say but she passed away just a few minutes ago and we found her phone on  call to you" the voice said.
"I-... thank you for letting me know." I said teary-eyed with shaky breaths. I need the call and went into a breakdown. Of course Pepper heard and came in.

"Ria you ok?" She asked not noticing me on my bed. I didn't reply. She looked at my bed and rushed over.
"Omg. Ria what happened?!" Pepper screamed.
"I- my mom just died" I replied. She hugged me harder.
"Hold on." She said leaving the room. I waited sobbing into my knees until she came back with snacks and the rest of our group including the boys. Sam came over to me.
"Hey. Pepper told us what happened. I'm so sorry" the group said. They all came over to me and sat on my bed. I leaned into Sams chest, which was fine since we weee boyfriend and girlfriend, as he went up to the headboard.
"Wanna watch friends?" Carol asked. I just nodded as everyone propped up against my headboard grabbed the throw blanket and put it over us. The rest of the group Tony,  Bruce, Thor, Jane, Daniel, Clint, Steve and Darcy all sat on the beanbags and the small couch informs of my bed.

We were all laughing at Wanda and Bucky who both fell asleep and enjoying the show. That was until the TV was suddenly turned off and as I looked for the remote it was in none other than my sister Natasha's hand.
"Hey! Get out of my room!" I shouted.
"Ok first of all no. And second of all why is literally all your friends in here you should be getting ready to go to lesson. And thirdly why do you look like you've been crying?"
"Ok so first of all. Please swap dorms with someone. Secondly, I don't need to go to school and I have a reason to be off today and my friends are helping me get over it. And thirdly, because maybe something happened at home"
"Like what. You find out the truth, that mom cheated on dad?" She said in reply. Everyone had their mouth open knowing what Natasha wasn't true because I recorded the whole divorce argument and sent it to them. I was about to slap her before Sam and Carol grabbed me pulling me back down into the bed.
"Just show her the recording" whispered Carol. I grabbed my phone swiped through my camera roll and clicked on a video showing the night our parents got divorced to Natasha.

"Out of all men. I thought you were the one!" Screamed Victoria
"Yeah well maybe you expect to much from me" my dad shouted back
"Oh so your  telling me that I expected to much from you so cheated on me with that Hydra chic who tried to kill you!"
"Yes exactly. And I did it for a good reason. Your just an ice cold bitch with no heart!"
"Really?! I'm the ice cold bitch with no heart? Let's remember the day we got together, oh and every other night"
"You know what! If you can't handle me cheating on you with one girl! Then I quit! I'm divorcing you and I'm taking Natasha!"
"Oh really. So now you think it's ok to cheat. And you're not taking either of them. You focus more on people that aren't your daughter to even be bothered about them"
"Oh really?!"
"Yes really!"
"Well then where are they?"

"Erm  Marias at a friends and Nats with May."
"no they're both in bed."
"I-well.."
