"I'm glad we never hear you complaining..."

Digimon Adventure 1
"Finally secured a place then, Annie?" Mickie hummed and spun around, taking in the grand walls and high ceiling of the warehouse's interior. The vast majority of the 20000 square feet stood unused and empty, making any voice, no matter how soft, echo throughout the building. Only one corner of the warehouse had been fully furnished, occupied by a giant control panel and monitor, similar to the ones you would imagine finding in a government war room. Several machines, which looked to serve the purpose of high-functioning computers, surrounded this area with hundreds of different colored cables stringed across them.
"More or less. Still traveling a lot though," the woman answered, busy typing away at the panel. Mickie whistled a simple tune as he looked down, dancing around the cables lying across the floor like trip-wire, with Impmon following after him in a similar bouncy manner. Having safely crossed over to the other side, Mickie turned around again, hoping to get a better view of the place from here. "Woah, sweet ride," he chuckled when spotting a sleek black car standing to the far left of the room, by the big garage doors. "Do you have what I asked for?" Annie said in response, her tone patient like an interrogation officer dealing with a distracted child - in her mind after all, he was a child, despite only being a few years younger. Mickie continued to look around as he reached into his jacket pocket, a cocky grin on his lips. "Wouldn't come back empty handed, love." Annie turned around and effortlessly caught the small item the young man tossed her way. It was a sort of Digivice, this item - though it was man-made and lacked many of the functions you would find on a device like Jeff's. She turned it over in her hand, briefly noting the scraped edges and dirt caught in the cracks. It was only for temporary use anyways, she thought as she pressed a button to open the device and removed a small chip from inside. Mickie watched her insert the chip into one of the computers and go back to typing at the panel. Within just a few seconds, his head lulled to the side and he felt the boredom already creeping back up on him. This is dull, he thought. Meticulous scheming in secrecy, calculated conspiracies by men wearing suits sitting in 100-story buildings, giant screens, black leather swivel chairs, this stock, that investment - it's all so fucking dull, Mickie's voice groaned inside his head.
"Efficiently done," Annie complimented him. "It was about time things picked up around here." With a glance, she insultingly acknowledged Gazimon who sat atop a metal beam stretching across the ceiling above them. The Digimon glared down at her, looking not so much a vicious beast as he did a cowardly cat scared up the wall. Once he looked in Mickie's and Impmon's direction, they waved at him and smiled, knowingly aggravating him. "Hey, poochy! Hiya, doggy!" Impmon yelled, jumping about and barking mockingly at the canine. Gazimon only snarled in contempt and turned around. Turning his attention away from the two Digimon, Mickie strolled over to stand by Annie.
"Should be done by the end of the month, thanks to you. You'll receive your payment then."
"What is all of this, anyways? What have you been working on, all these years?"
Mickie saw a faint smile appear on Annie's face in the reflection of the screen.
"Just a little gift from me to me. You'll see soon enough."
With a not so enthusiastic gaze, Mickie looked up at the monitor. She was coding something, he acknowledged effortlessly, something related to Digimon. He glanced down at the Digivice laying on the table, the one he had accordingly used to absorb the data of several Digimon he had purged with the help of Impmon. "You used to be quite the computer expert," Annie mumbled during her work. "You should be able to figure it out." No competitive spirit arose within Mickie however, he couldn't care less actually. He rolled his eyes and sighed, looking off to the side. "I'll stick around and find out eventually, I guess." He started pacing around.
