Liam's pov

I did the right thing. She should know what she would be getting into when she makes love with a true mate. That is what I've been telling myself for the last few hours. I've been too chicken to face her in the house, so I've been consoling myself in the barn.

My wolf refuses to guide me through this blunder because he's so angry with my actions. I should of reacted better to her advances. I know she is broken inside, but she is healing. Some things are just going to take some time for her like getting up to speed on the proper ways of how she should expect a man to treat her, with respect. I bang my head against the work table. Guess I should of taken my own advice. I need to man up. Show her how a real man will love her, through honest words and honest gestures. The physical stuff can wait until she knows about the mating process if she choses to stay by my side.

I manage to rev up enough courage to find Skyler and apologize for my actions, than explain to her, how she should be treated with respect and not as an object. I also want her to open up to me, explain to me about her memory issues. No matter what, I want to be there for her. I march right through the back door into the kitchen, since Skyler seems to enjoy cooking dinner with Trudy these days.

The only person there was Trudy. She looked up with an expression on her face that could be described as 'the cat catching the cannery.' "Have you seen Skyler?" I ask her. Trudy's lips pull down and she seems puzzled.

"Not since she left to give you lunch. I thought she was still with you?" Trudy answers. My gut is starting to tighten. Something isn't right.

"She was, but I handled an issue between us like a bull headed donkey. I need to find her to apologize."

Trudy lifts a skeptical eyebrow. "I'm not going to tell you that I've warned you about that temper being your worst enemy, so you better go on and check if that poor little thing's been crying her eyes out in her room." Only Trudy knows how to reprimand me, lay the guilt down thick and get her way with out batting an eye. I turn to head for Skyler's room, when Trudy grabs my attention once again. "While your at it, you might want to start telling her about us. Ease it in like a legend. Humans love a good story."

"I don't think she's ready."

"Well, if I were you, I'd do it soon before she ends up finding out the hard way. Humans don't do well when they're surprised." I nod at her advise, than run up to Skyler's room. She isn't there either. My stomach begins to knot. I search all over the house, she's not here. A cold chill is settling in my bones. I scour the front and back yard, she is no where to be seen. Panic is in full force. I gather everybody from home and send them in search parties into the woods. We search till the sun had set, than risen. Not one stone was left unturned. I'm beside myself with fear. The next step is to search my territory. That can take days. I have one of the largest territories in the United States. By the time we get through all of it, she could of sifted right past us with out us knowing. What I do know is that this feels very wrong like something has happened to her.

Mean while Skyler's pov

I'm the dumbest person on the planet. I vow to never run blindly into the forest, while being highly emotional again. Apparently it makes you a magnet to murphy's law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong). So now I'm sitting here stuck in another man made hole, a drainage ditch by the side of a road. I'm cold, wet and beating myself up over what happened.

In my hystarical state, I hadn't realize there was a deer and it's young I stumbled upon. I should of known that the Disney film 'Bambie' was all crap. They are not shy, majestic animals. They're evil monsters, some how relating themselves to bears! The mama deer snarled at me like a ferocious wolverine, stamped her menacing huffs, than chased me out of the woods. Her fawns happily following suit as if it were a game.

The problem with getting chased is you don't see the bigger picture. This picture included a major drop off at the tree line. Down I went like a human bolder, rolling at break neck speeds. The only thing that stopped me was the ditch at the very bottom of the incredibly steep hill.

Now I'm stuck here, quiet literally. When I landed, my leg some how got trapped under this huge, nasty, misshapen, metal object. The thing is the same size as me! The only way I could see how it got here is that it must of fallen off the back of a truck and rolled into the ditch. I spent the last hour trying to dig myself out, than wedge sticks that float near me, under this thing and attempt to leverage it off of me.

Thinking about it reminds me of how wet, cold, exhausted and bloated like an African bull frog I am. Please lord send some one to help me. A fancy car comes speeding down the road, as it gets closer, it slows to a stop by the drainage ditch near me. The driver gets out and struts over.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Emily. Playing in the mud." He bends to get a closer look, than clicks his tongue in admonishment. "You know Emily, your punishment is going to be twice as harsh, since you made me look for you." My heart has pretty much stopped beating. I can feel the blood drain from my face.

Dear lord, since you were so quick to answer my last prayer, please get rid of Wes and send somebody else. I promise, I'll never look at a Jesus infomercial sideways again, no matter how ridiculous the people act on them.
