Happy 18th Birthday, Clarise! (And Chiyoko)

The date was October 22nd, 2020. It was around 4 PM in Negi Root City, and school for the day had ended. Clarise Sanō [Chat Noir] was currently at home.

Chat Noir: I wonder if Hana can talk to me on Zoom.

She decided to find out for herself. She went on her computer and invited her friend Hana to chat. Sure enough, there she was.

Hana-Kotoba: Clarise!

Chat Noir: Hey there.

Hana-Kotoba: I forgot to say this in school, but happy birthday.

Chat Noir: Thanks. I can't believe I'm 18.

Hana-Kotoba: That means you'll be graduating soon.

Chat Noir: Hey, you'll be 18 in March. And we're both going to be in the same graduating class.

Hana-Kotoba: That's right. I'm going to miss high school.

Chat Noir: Me too. But college will be even better.

Hana-Kotoba: I hope so.

She sighed sadly.

Chat Noir: Hana? What's wrong?

Hana-Kotoba: It's my cousin Kasha. Do you think she's proud of me?

Chat Noir: Didn't she die or something?

Hana-Kotoba: Yeah. She took her own life a few months ago. That means Soleil can't bring her back from the dead.

Chat Noir: I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure that she's very proud of you, wherever she is.

Hana-Kotoba: Thank you, Clarise. So, what are you going to be doing for your birthday?

Chat Noir: Probably not much.

Hana-Kotoba: But you are 18 years old now!

Chat Noir: I know. But COVID-19 is still happening. If I go out in public, I have to wear a face mask.

Hana-Kotoba: This stinks.

Chat Noir: Did you even bring me a birthday card?

Hana-Kotoba: I think it's in your mailbox.

Chat Noir: I'll go check.

She got up and went outside. Sure enough, in her mailbox, was a single envelope. She went back inside beside her computer and ripped the envelope and took out the card.

Chat Noir: "Happy 18th birthday, Clarise! From your friend Hana." This is really sweet. Thanks, Hana.

Hana-Kotoba: You're welcome.

And Clarise and Hana continued to talk for a few more minutes. Then they both signed off.
