"Welcome back to Hell... Oh shit my bad i meant Highschool!" I say sarcastically.

"Rox shut up we are a month in you don't need to say the every day." My best friend says next to me leaning on the hood of my car.

"Okay look, how about school stop feeling like Hell, and I'll stop calling it Hell?" I ask rhetorically.

"Okay fair point, by the way you heard the rumor right?" he say raising an eyebrow and stepping away from my car and starts walking toward the school building.

I follow him and sigh, "I believe its about  the new transfer student from up north?" I say second guessing myself.

"Bingo... That's all they know so far, otherwise their would already be betting you could hook up with them first." he lightly chuckles to himself then looks back to me "Anyway see you in English, I'm not writing your paper this month!" he practically yells as he starts to file into the crowd onto his way to first period.

I sighed and continued to my first period, remember don't draw attention to yourself, don't speak unless spoken too, survive... Let the games begin. At this point it was my own personal mantra, it helped with my anxiety cause god did not want to save the outcast.

I finally got to physics and walked into the room trying to ignore the whispers and glances that where getting thrown my way, but that how its always been for me. I'm abnormally tall, 6'3 and the heterochromia didn't help. I kinda look like a failed Captain America clone that they fuck up the eyes on.

I sat down and started to assemble my things when the teacher, Mr. Davis walked in. He's real nice as far as teacher standards go but he can be a bit irritable at times, but hey, he is surrounded by us idiots all day so who could blame him.

"Alright, I need everyone to get out their text books and turn to page 157. This week will be about gravity and how it affects the world around us. Fun fact, did you know that everything has gravity even people." he say with a smug grin like he just outsmarted a co-worker.

I lightly sinker to myself and flip through my book. Ironic

After physics was chemistry and after that was English LIT, or as I like to call it 'My personal torture from the 9th circle of Hell', needless to say I didn't like it.

I walked in to see a familiar face, the only reason I can tolerate this class.

"Yo, Rox how was easy street?" he says still digging through his back

"You know Mr. Davis long rants and what not and I have a new project in chemistry but that's about it... Oh wait and how everyone is gossiping about Mia I think her name was, I didn't pay to much attention to them." I say taking my seat

"Yeah thought as much... God why does high school give everyone such a 'Drama Boner' like damn it just one more extrovert added to the population, my God its never happened before" he says the last part with fake shock.

"Sound like you've met this extrovert, you had her in one of your classes didn't you?" I say raising an eyebrow.

"yeah we have Journalism together she's also in this class but I think she's running late." he say and right on que she comes barreling through the door like her life depended on it. Then she stands up a bit straighter and I can get a clear look at her. 5'5 or 6, her skin was the color of caramel and her dark brown hair fell in wavy locks over her shoulders stopping around her shoulder blades. That all I could she before she started to go from person to person indiscriminately introducing her self, and before I realized she was standing in front of me with and eager smile that reminded me of a puppy when he's first taken home eyes so full of wonder and her hazel burned into me but not in a harsh way. She held her hand out expectantly. After a brief moment of hesitation I took it.

"Hi I'm Mia, Mia Garcia" her slight Hispanic accent shinning through on her R's.

"Roxanne, Roxanne Nicole Rose." I say caution still in my tone even though I try to get rid of it. She look around again surviving the class room.

"Looks like where going to be sitting together in here." she says a smile still glues to her face. Then I look around the room again and I try to hide the panic that just hit my... no, no, no, no, no. I look back up at her and try my best to be calm and probably fail horribly.

"That's fine" I say slowly like the word where foreign to me. She look like I don't even know how to describe it... Spring, full of life bouncing up and down and smelling vaguely of lavender. When did I notice that? when I'm having a small panic attack she casually slip herself into the seat next to me and Ethan over their about to lose his head holding his laughter in when the teacher walks in the room.

"Okay kids as I'm sure you sure you are all aware of by now we have a new student with us-" she was about to continue but some guy in the back basically yelled

"Trust me she introduced her self to everyone even 'Goliath' over their" and this gets half of the class to laugh. I just take the hit and don't acknowledge it, I will admit that when they first came up with this new nickname for me it hurt a little but honestly its a stale joke now to me. Mia just look bewildered at the prospect that her being friendly was a joke to them, poor girl.

"Settle down! Look Jason we have been over this, their will not be insults thrown in my class" she says then composes herself quickly, "Anyway you all know the drill new month new essay. This month we will be getting to know someone, you can pick anyone in the class but they can be your friends, for example, Ashley cannot  do her essay on Cynthia and vise versa." she say as she takes her seat. " I will give you the class period to decide your partners choose wisely." and with that all hell broke lose people rushing to find partners even Ethan did know what to do. I just sat in my seat unmoving cause I knew even if I looked for a partner I would be the unwanted one the last kid picked, and my partner would be pitied. I'm broken from my train of thought when I feel a tapping on my shoulder, I turn and their I see Mia looking at me still in her seat.

   "Wanna be partners?" she asks.

"Excuse me?" I say her words not registering in my head.

"You know partners for the project I don't know you and you don't know me I believe that's the requirements" She said calmly her voice dipping in and out of accent.

"That's not a good idea on your part, don't know if you got this but I'm the social reject, you partner with me and you go down with me." I say hoping she take what I say to heart, she doesn't need to ruin her reputation this fast. she was about to say something but then I hear her voice.

"You know I never thought I would see the day that I agree with Roxy here but she's right, but your new so I guess you didn't know. I'm Cynthia, I'll be your partner." her smile a charming as ever the venom in her voice drawn back, she playing the role of siren. Typical. Then the unexpected happened. Mia's eyes sharpened to a razors edge and her voice so cold it made Alaska feel warm like her hatred was pointed at a person she already new and despised,

"Thanks, but no thank I'm capable of making my own decision, now unless Roxanne here has any objection I'm going to be her partner." she say the venom seething from her lips. This girl scares me.

"T-That's fine I have n..no problem with that" I say tripping on my words., and just like that all the hate I just saw from her just evaporated like it was never their, and Cynthia was already gone. I think that's the first time anyone has ever told her no. What that Hell did I just witness.

"Anyway If you have time I meet you after school today I was in this café this morning and they had the best stuff."  she says and scrawls something down on a torn piece of paper and handed it to me and when she stood up as if on que the bell rung.

"Roxanne, did she basically tell Cynthia of all people to fuck off?" he says slight amusement in his voice.

"Yes and now she's meeting me for coffee at..." I then choke on my words as I read the note its just her phone number and a name,
