A Quick Cup of Coffee

You walk through the towering Class 1-A door and set the cup of coffee in your hands onto the desk. You scan the room, looking for a sign of Aizawa - perhaps a flash of his messy, raven hair, maybe a length of tattered grey scarf - but to no avail.

"...Mr. Aizawa?" you say, sure to use his school name within the U.A. building.

"UuUggGhhh..." you hear a groan from the corner of the room and catch sight of his puffy yellow sleeping bag.

"I brought you a coffee. Clearly, you could use it," you chuckle, picking the cup up off of the desk and crossing the length of the room. A smile creeps across your face as you finally lock eyes with the sleepy man. You squat down to sit next to Shota, careful to avoid an inappropriate moment in your work skirt. You swear you see the slightest hint of blush across Shota's cheeks as his eyes politely glance away from your legs.

"How'd you figure?" Shota's monotone voice had a whisper of whimsy in it as a gentle smile spreads onto his face. Few people see this gentle side of your best friend, but it's the only part of him that he's ever shown you.

*Flashback - 2 years prior*

Your head swirled with the million things on your to-do list. You looked up at the sky, and the clouds seemed to mirror the thoughts in your head. As you felt the first drops of rain hit your head and shoulders, you felt a general sense of unease overcome you. A chill ran up your spine as you tried to place where this feeling was coming from. Unable to figure it out, you shook your head and pushed forward, just a few blocks from home.

"Long time no see," a cool voice called from beside you, as a hand grasped your arm and pulled you up into an embrace.

"I-" you started to panic, not recognizing the voice or body of the man who suddenly had you in his arms.

"Please, do not panic," the man's voice was low and urgent, but somehow you felt comforted by it. "There is a man who has been following you for several blocks. Is there any reason someone should be following you?" You shook your head, unable to find your voice. "He should have passed us by now. I'm fairly sure he stopped to wait for me to leave. There is a coffee shop nearby, I recommend you stop there before moving to your next destination."

"C-come grab a coffee with me?" you said as the stranger sat you back down. You tried to seem unrattled whilst making sure the creep following you could hear you. The man nodded, and led you to the coffee shop just a few dozen meters ahead.

"He's slightly shorter than me, a plump man. Stringy blond hair. Sound familiar?"

"Um.. not at all," you wracked your brain, trying to think of any connection you have to anyone bearing that description.

The man led you to a small table at the front of the coffee shop. "He's walking past right now."

Your breath caught as you looked out the window and into the eyes of the creep who was following you. He waited outside of the shop for a few moments, and you could see the decision he was weighing at that moment. You breathed a sigh of relief and placed your head in your hands as he walked past the shop, hopefully out of your life forever.

"Are you okay?" the stranger who potentially saved your life said as he sat two mugs of coffee on the table.

You peeked up from your fingers, tears of fright, rage, and appreciation welling up in your eyes. You nodded the tiniest nod, not confident in your ability to speak without falling apart at that moment.

"I don't believe that," he said matter-of-factly. "You look shaken."

"I... I live so close to here," you whispered. "How long has he been following me? Does he know where I live? I can't go home tonight... I..." you felt hot tears fall into your palms.
"My name is Shota Aizawa. Let's find you a safe place to stay tonight. I will make sure no one can harm you," this man, Shota, placed a hand on your shaking shoulders, resolve in his gentle voice.

You looked up into his eyes, and you knew he was being honest.

*Present day*

"Just drink the damn coffee," you laugh as you push a lock of his messy hair away from his face and press the cup to his lips. As he swallows, you pull the cup from his lips and take a sip for yourself.

"Couldn't even spring for your own coffee?" Aizawa suppresses a smile, trying to seem annoyed. You, however, know better.

"Oh no, I just already finished mine on the way over," you beam at him. "Anyways, I wanted to check if we are still on for pizza and movie night."

"Hmm, could be hard to fit in... I still need to plan a few lessons... Finals coming up..."

"No, Shota you can't cancel again, you did this last week! I have finals for my students too, but you don't see me canceling," you know your job as a second-year English teacher here at U.A. does not come with as much work, but even so, you pout just enough to make him cave.

"Hm. Fine, but I get to pick the movie," Aizawa grunted as he unzipped his sleeping bag.

"Deal!" you smile, planting a platonic kiss on the top of his head before standing up carefully. Butterflies flutter deep in your belly as you watch him respectfully turn his gaze away once again.

Shota outstretches his hand, asking for help up. You oblige, though you know you're not much help to this pro hero. You hand him the cup of coffee, wish him a good rest of the day, and exit the colossal doors of class 1-A.

"See you tonight, (y/n)," Aizawa calls to your back. You can't see it, but you can hear the tiniest bit of a smile in his voice. As the door swings shut, you glance back and swear you might  have seen Aizawa staring at your ass.
