Back then when it first happened, he had a lot of hatred and disappointment.

For himself. The world. Jiang FengMian. Even Yu ZiYuan.

But he kept it in, he had to be a good role model for the disciples.

Years later, their second child was born.

And he realised.

There's no going back anymore, what's lost is lost.

He should let go now.

So he did, he stopped hating his current situation and accepted fate.

That he was going to be lonely forever.

That there was no one who could replace him.

He got used to silently watching over the Jiang family over the years.

And then he died.

Very quickly, a decade passed with yearning and regret.

Now, he looks at his nephews spending time happily with the man's son and adopted son.

He thought to himself,

Is this your way of saying sorry? To give my nephews what I couldn't have at that time?

However, he would never get an answer.

It's not like he can come back like Wei WuXian did.

I dont know why I wrote this, I guess I kinda just wanted to give Lan ShuShu someone to love since he's so lonely. I would go for Wen RuoHan as his pairing but it just... I just don't like that man so he's not good enough for my amazing Lan ShuShu 😂 So then, I thought why not JFM? (I was also inspired by other fanfics for this pairing) And there we go. This oneshot got born.
