~ 6 MONTHS EARLIER ~
"Okay guys, if that's everything then I'm going home for the day," Michael stated as he looked around the room at the other 5, "It's Lindsay and my anniversary today."
"Aw, my boi!" Gavin cooed, "I can't believe it was 3 years ago since you became a real grown up!"
"Shut the fuck up Gavin, I've been paying rent and taxes for years, that's what a grown up is!" Michael smiled, packing up his bag as everyone else did the same.
"Come on you two, behave yourselves," Geoff spoke up from the other side of the room, "Congratulations Michael, we'll all have to take you out one night to celebrate."
"Sounds good Geoffrey, it's not as if we don't see each other enough anyway." Michael joked.
"Alright alright, well have a lovely evening," Geoff smiled and gestured towards the door, "And everyone else, let's go!"
"Hey Geoff, mind giving me a ride home? Meg has an appointment and can't pick me up today so.." Gavin asked as he walked out the door of the building, already making headway towards the Audi.
"Yeah yeah whatever, get in" Geoff sighed, almost expecting the question that Gavin repeatedly asked the last few days. "See y'all tomorrow!"
Everyone else said their -relatively- nice goodbye's and seperated towards their own modes of transport.

Michael smiled to himself on his way home. Everything in his life is so perfect. He has his beautiful wife, who is currently driving them home to their apartment. His job is something he'd dreamed of growing up, no longer dreading working late hours and making conversation with workmates who were, well, just that. He has the best friends he could ever imagine, a boss he can joke around with and projects that involve and challenge him.
And tonight, he planned on celebrating that.
"Oh my god, Michael! What is this?!" Lindsay said, covering her mouth as she unlocked the door to their apartment.
"This is all for you Linds, happy 3 year anniversary!" Michael grinned, leaning over and pecking her on the cheek.
"How did you do this? We were both at work all day..?" Lindsay questioned as she blushed and walked around the rose petals scattered around the floor and furniture.
"Gavin and I snuck away around lunchtime and made this suprise for you." Michael couldn't stop smiling at Lindsay's reaction, "Do you like it?"
"Are you kidding? I love it! It's so beautiful.." Lindsay admired the several full length roses laying on top of the table and lounges.
"You're so beautiful," Michael walked over and took her hand, "I love you."
"Oh my god, Michael!" Lindsay laughed, holding onto Michael's sides, "I love you, too."
-------------------------
Michael awoke hours later to the sound of his text tone. Reaching around in the dark, he found his phone beside the bed on the floor. Realising he can't read the bright words, he grabbed his glasses before adjusting the brightness so he can focus on who must get in contact with him now.
'Message recieved 2:59am - GAVIN FREE'
Michael questioned why Gavin would be texting him now, but he opened the message with no idea what it would contain.
"Hey boi can you please come over I'm at home"
Michael stared at the message for a couple of seconds before another text came up on the screen.
"Please I need to talk to you"
Closing the messages and shutting the screen off, Michael slides out of bed in an attempt not to wake up Lindsay. He grabs his jeans and shirt from the nearby chair and heads out towards the kitchen. Michael quickly puts his worn - yet still clean(ish) - clothes on before looking around for the car keys in the dark.
"This had better be worth it, Gav." Michael mumbles as he quietly opens and closes the front door.
