Country Love

Will you

All to soon that sad day rolled around, were I had to leave this place behind for a second time, though this time I'm sure I will be back. I'm trying to think of it as an extended vacation. I mean I had spent 7 years away before, but not with leaving so much love behind.

I had gotten up and made breakfast for Brooks and I. Joe and Sarah won't be coming over, they had something on and Hayley and Dustin still ain't back from their honey moon, so it's just Brooks and I.

Brooks came down soon after I finished making breakfast.
"Wanna go for a ride after brecky?" He asked with a sad look on his face.
I nodded and we sat down and ate in silence. We left and saddled up. I jumped on Denny for the last time in a long time and Brooks rode Bluie.

We rode for a long time, pretty much completely in silence. It was a solemn ride. We rode for what felt like forever until we reached the farthest paddock on the property. We stopped underneath an iron bark and Brooks led me over to a small patch saltbush.

We sat down and Brooks spread out the mat and put a basket down.
"What's this?" I asked raising my eye brow.

"It a pick nick, what does it look like?" He said back.
I just puffed. We dug into the chocolate cake and the sandwiches and we kept up light conversation, just stuff about the farm.

We were out there for what felt like hours, it was nice, but sad, we had grown closer than we had ever before and I didn't want to leave him, but as soon as I finish my course I would be home free and I'll be able to do what I want and love with out worries of being taken away.

The sun started to move to fast across the sky, so we packed up and headed to where I though was home but instead Brooks led me to the river.

"What are we doing here?" I asked for the second time today.
"We are going swimming my love."
"Ok, but um... I haven't got my swimmers," I said but in answer Brooks started to strip down, which I was quite enjoying until he took off his boxers and jumped in the water. I garded my eyes with my hands.
"IM NOT DOING THAT!" I screamed in disgust.
"Slip off you gear and jump right in, skinny dippin from head to toe!" He sung as he swam.
"Your an idiot! I cant believe I am doin this," Was all I said as I made my way behind the cover of the bottle brush. I striped down and jumped in.

I sat over in the shaded water hiding myself, well that was untill Brooks came over and picked my up. I gasped and attempted to cover myself, and slap him at the same time.
"Damn girl, you sure are something to look at!" He said eyeing me.
"Shut up!" I shouted back.
"Never!" He shouted as he swung me around.
Soon I relaxed and actually had some fun. But all to soon we had to get dressed and head back home.
I jumped out of the water and walked over to where my clothes were hanging. I got dressed and walked over to the horses, just before I mounted I turned around and found Brooks down on one knee.
My heart stopped, "What are you doing! Don't you dare!"

He just shook his head before saying those 10 little words, "Audrey May Ison, I love you, will you marry me?"

Unlike most girls in this situation, I spat back, "How dare you! I'm going away for 7 bloody years! And you just have to make it harder, by fucking proposing! I love you too Brooks but I can't marry you. Maybe one day but not now."
He was silent.
"We should go back, I have to pack my car," I said looking at the ground.
He just murmured a "yeah" and we were off.

The car was packed and we were just standing there awkwardly.
"Goodbye Brooks," I said with a small smile.
"Bye Miss Audrey," he said walking towards me,"Come here," he said pulling me in for a hug.
I pulled in for a tight hug, I felt his muscle flex under his shirt, "I'm gunna miss you Brooks."
"Me too Audrey, me too," and with that I hoped in my car and drove away, away from everything that I was, everything that I became and everything I loved.
