At 4 a.m. I awaken slowly, cherishing the stillness of the early hour before the day's demands begin. I luxuriate in a long, soothing bath, savoring the warmth and quiet. With my duties delegated to Anaka, my Delta, and Lion, my Beta, I can focus on preparing for the journey ahead. I trust Anaka completely—once an ambitious candidate for the Alpha position himself, he has now found his place and his mate, a bond that blossomed during our recent meeting at the Rogue State.
As I ready myself for the marathon flight to the International Peace Alliance Festival & Ball (IPAFB), I recall the last event held in Ireland. The thrill of reuniting with old friends and forging new alliances is a powerful motivator. This time, the IPAFB is in the United States, and I'll be attending not just as a participant but as the Alpha of the Black Moon Wolves. The anticipation is palpable.
The IPAFB, spanning 12 weeks, offers a chance to engage with the international council of werewolf elders—two for each continent. We will discuss everything from alliances and warrior exchanges to solving pack issues and exploring diverse cultures. An annual unmated event helps our pack members find their mates worldwide, a tradition I look forward to continuing.
Dressed in casual travel attire, my makeup minimal and my hair neatly brushed, I head to the walk-in closet. With a flight of 16 to 17 hours ahead, I choose comfort over formality.
"Ready for the journey, Alexis?" I ask, my wolf's presence always a comforting constant. "Good morning, Alexis!" I add with a smile.
"I'm excited about this trip," she replies, her voice filled with eager anticipation. "Maybe we'll finally meet our mate! I haven't sensed him in this country, so he must be elsewhere."
"Let's not get our hopes too high," I caution. "The Moon Goddess has her timing, and we must wait for it."
"I'm ready for us to find him mate and have tons of pups!" Alexis says with enthusiasm, her tail wagging. "Whoa there!" I chuckle at her exuberance.
Our conversation is interrupted by my mother's mind link. "Yuna, are you ready?"
"Yes, Mom, my suitcases are downstairs. I'm on my way."
"Perfect. Your father and I are ready too."
"Alright, let's go!" I reply, excitement in my voice as Alexis releases a joyful howl.
As I step out of the mansion, I'm met by the entire pack, their well-wishes filling the air and warming my heart. My parents stand by my side, and through the mind link, they begin our protective chant. The connection we share is powerful and moving. Their support deepens my resolve to lead them to their best lives.
When the chant ends, I add our blessed words. "I am you, you are me, we are a whole." The pack echoes my words, and my howl rings out, amplified by magic, reverberating across the country. In response, I hear a chorus of howls from all corners of our land, a testament to our unity.
"This is so beautiful, my child. You are deeply loved by our pack," my mother's voice carries a mix of pride and emotion. Even the rogues, whom we treat with a chance to redeem themselves, send their safe travels. We have a dedicated state for them to rebuild their lives, led by Rogue King Jax, a man of respect and fairness.
Our approach to omegas is equally progressive. Their quarters are comfortable, reflecting our respect for their essential roles. They work tirelessly, and in return, they receive the dignity they deserve. We stand firm against any form of mistreatment or abuse.
Anaka opens the door for me, accompanied by his mate, Eliana, and Lion with his mate, Manii. We exchange heartfelt goodbyes before embarking on our journey to Texas, home of the Desert Snakes Pack led by Alpha Xander and Luna Hanna Scott. We've stayed in touch through calls and video chats since I last visited her pack at 17, attending her Luna coronation. Our friendship has only grown stronger despite the distance.
