Premise: Dreamon Hunter AU (if you didn't catch this stream, basic explanation, Fundy and Tubbo teamed up to hunt these things called Dreamons that possessed members of the SMP and they also got Sapnap to help) You're Tubbo's older sister. You and Tubbo have been hunting Dreamons for a year now and recently you've recruited Fundy to help. You and him talk one night.

Trigger warnings: I don't think there are any :)

Fundy's POV

I could hear the wind beating against the side of the tent, screaming without a voice. It's short lashes of air whipped the flimsy fabric around noisily. How was Y/N still out there?

I'd been the last to come back to the camp, except her of course. I could hear Sapnap's obnoxious snoring over the wind, and it was not helping my mind ease down for the evening. Fortunately, I wasn't planning on sleeping until Y/N got back, because of fear of being alone.

Speak of the devil... She pulled back the flap of our shared tent, letting the cold air swirl around manically. I instinctively pulled my two blankets tighter round me, shivering as she flopped down on the floor of the tent next to me.

"What's got you back so late? I thought you were just double checking the traps?" I turned over on my sleeping mat to face her.

"It's safe now, the moon's passed its high point." She replied, voice muffled from her face being pressed into the floor.

"You should be asleep, you'll be exhausted-"

"Look who's talking." She cut me off, sitting up with her eyebrow raised. I guess she was right, I was awake too.

"You've got me there..." I confessed. She made a noise of assent and lay down again, trying to get comfortable.

"Soooooo how long have you been hunting Dreamons?" I asked, trying to make small talk.

"About a year." Her answer was very short.

"Tubbo's lucky to have you looking out for him." I complimented. She raised her head, voice sad.

"Is he?"

"What are you...?" I was confused.

"You know Tubbo he's a bit... All over the place. He'll run off when I don't notice, and sometimes I've only just realised he's in danger in the nick of time. I feel like an awful sister." She confessed, face wrought with regret.

"But that's not your fault, I mean, you can't be held responsible for him, he's his own person..." I tried to argue.

"Fundy, do you know why we started hunting Dreamons?" I furrowed my brow and shook my head. I didn't. "Because Dreamons killed my parents. I'm all Tubbo has left, and I'm so awful at looking after him it's lead to his life nearly being lost on numerous occasions." I was taken aback. Every night I'd try and talk to Y/N, and she'd never told me anything about her family before. I didn't know how to respond.

"I-I'm sorry." I managed to say finally. She shrugged, lips pulled tight.

"The reason I stay out so late is because I don't want to sleep. Because every time I do, I'm haunted by everything I've seen. It keeps me permanently terrified." She sighed, burying her face in her hands. I sat up too, wanting to reach out and comfort her, but not quite having the guts to do so.

"I'm scared too, I mean, this whole thing is a living nightmare." I told her.

"I don't blame you. But Tubbo, he doesn't really understand. This is like a game to him, he's so focused on his fantasy of being the hero of the village, the one that stories are written about, he misses the reality that plagues the rest of us."

"That's very... Eloquently put." I decided. She offered me a sad half smile.

"You're a good guy, Fundy." She looked at me earnestly. My eyes widened and I struggled to respond.

"Uh- thank you!" I blurted, not expecting the words of kindness. She eventually slumped back down, facing the wall of the tent, curling her legs up into a ball. She didn't have a blanket. I bit my lip slightly, before gingerly taking my own spare and draping it around her.

I saw her flinch at the fabric tickling her skin, relaxing when she realised what I was doing. She turned to me, frowning.

"Won't you be cold?" She asked softly.

"I'm never cold when I'm with you." The words tumbled out of my mouth before I could control them, and my face went so red, it could have illuminated the whole tent. "I had two blankets anyway!" I hurriedly added.

"I- what?" Oh well, here goes nothing.

"What I mean to say is... Jesus, uh- Being near you... It uh, warms my heart?" I cringed saying it, my voice going up at the end, making it sound more like a question.

"I- being near you warms my heart too."

Y/N's POV

Why did I just say that? Oh god what is wrong with me? Fundy laughed nervously at my response.

"G-glad it's mutual." He stuttered. I smiled quickly.

"That was my blanket anyway..." I whispered quietly.

"What?"

"Oh, I put it on your side of the tent thinking you'd need it," I confessed, "I'm used to this whole sleeping on the go thing, I've been in harsher conditions. You're pretty new, I thought I'd be kind."

"Oh, thank you." The was a genuine hint of joy in his voice.

"Eh don't mention it." I shrugged. If I talked anymore I think the blush on my face would kill me.

"I'm glad I decided to come with you and Tubbo. Really glad." Fundy said quietly.

"Yeah. Me too."

We slowly lapsed into silence, and I felt sleep creeping up on me slowly. I stretched out my arms, yawning. I certainly did not mean to brush Fundy's hand, but the action reignited the redness of my cheeks. Unconsciously, we hooked our pinky fingers together. This eventually evolved into our hands locked, palms pressed together. I let myself drift off to sleep with a smile.

I didn't have a single thought about Dreamons that night.
