★--------ALL SHE COULD HEAR IS HISSING and the stinging feeling around her throat as she stood in a dark cold room. Suddenly a gust of fog took over her view and she saw a younger looking male, he looked oddly familiar. He was talking to a younger woman that looked around Stephanie's age, the women's face twisted into sadness as she looked into the boys eyes. Stephanie couldn't make out anything they were saying because of the constant throbbing, Stephanie tried walking closer to the pair as much as she could until the aching in her head caused her to faint.
"Are you okay?" She heard a soft voice beside her, she looked to her right and saw Remus looking at her. Stephanie squinted as the bright sun light started burning her eyes, Remus must've noticed as he leaned over her to close the blinds. Stephanie muttered a thank you as she rubbed her head that was still throbbing.
The headache started to ease that she was finally able to open her eyes, she saw that both Peter and Sirius were talking to Hogmedes and how excited they were to go to the joke store. Remus sat quietly next to her reading a book, him sneaking glances at her to make sure she was okay. Stephanie caught his worried glance and just gave him a small smile to show that she was feeling much better, Remus still looked worried but just gave her a small smile back and looked back to his book. She then noticed how much closer that James and Lily seemed, they were actually having a deep conversation. She sighs as she watches the pair, she suddenly gets up startling Remus slightly.
"I'm going to go to the washroom." She whispers to Remus, he nodded as she walked to the exit of the compartment. She slides the door open and walks down the aisle. She barely got these headaches when she was home over the summer only just that one time, she never told her parents because she just thought it was normal from all the stress with school and the train rides.
She opens the door to the washroom, running the faucet as she stares at her reflections. She noticed her now pale face and the new eyebags around her eyes, Stephanie sighs as she cupped the running water in her hands and splashed it on her face. She turned the running water off and ripped some tissue paper and started whipping her hands dry. She runs her fingers through her tingly hair that kept getting caught between her fingers, Stephanie groaned as she grew frustrated with her hair. She walked out of the washroom after taming her thick hair before walking back to her compartment.
"Steph!" She heard someone yell, she stopped on her heels and snapped around. Noah was running towards her with a smile, he was already in his yellow robe making him stand out a little bit.
He stopped in front of her a little bit out of breath from running down the train, "Hey." He breathed out. Noah and Stephanie messaged each other all summer, she looked forward to his letters. Stephanie grew fond of his presence, she could easily open up to him and he would just listen.
"Hey." She laughed as she looked at him with a smile creeping on her face. They both stood in front of each other just looking at each other, His shoulders got broader and he got taller but not as tall as James. Stephanie gupled as a picture of James popped into her head, she frowned a little bit at the thought that she will have to spend a train ride watching James and Lily flirt.
"So where are you heading too?" Noah spoke, making Stephanie snap out of her thoughts.
"My compartment, would you like to walk with me, lad." Stephanie jokes
Noah chuckled before nodding, they walked down the aisle shoulder to shoulder telling each other embarrassing stories, she told him the time she pranked a slytherin and the professor thought it was a Ravenclaw. Noah told her about how she almost ran a first year hufflepuff with his broomstick. They both shared a laugh as they argued about which story was worse. They got closer to her compartment, Stephanie felt a little sad that this meant that Noah would have to go back to his compartment.
They were about to say goodbye until they heard a voice behind them, they turned around and saw James looking down at her with a chocolate fudge bar in his hand.
"Potter." The words fell out of her mouth as she looked into his hazel eyes kinda stunned that he's in front of her.
"Rose." He smiled a little bit before his eyes fell behind her and onto Noah, his forehead wrinkles a little bit as he squinted at him. Stephanie felt the tension between the two boys as she looked between them, she turned back to James and her eyes fell on the chocolate bar again.
"Who's that for?" Stephanie asks, gesturing to the chocolate, trying to break the silence that fell between them.
"For you." He said non-chalontrey, Stephanie was surprised by his words staring at him for a second waiting for the words "just kidding" to come out of his mouth.
"Remus told me you looked sick, so I went to go get some chocolate to make you feel better." He finally turned away from Noah and looked at Stephanie, she felt her face flush red with his words.
"Thank you so much." She said taking the bar away from his hand.
"You should sit down, Steph." Noah but a hand on her shoulders making her turn to his worried gaze.
"Steph?" She heard James mutter quietly, that it almost just sounded like a breath.
"He's right Lion, you should sit down?" He moved a hand on her lower back making her shiver from the gesture, she could feel her heart pace faster as the smell of his cinnamon cologne took over her nostrils. Noah looked confused at the pair before sighing.
"I'll see you later, okay?" She nodded as she watched him move closer to her.
"Goodbye darling." He placed a soft kiss on her cheeks before walking off, Stephanie felt the wind knocked out of her as she touched the place he kissed, she knew it was a friendly gesture but it didn't stop her heart from beating faster.
Stephanie didn't even notice the tight grip that James now had on her, he watched how her face was now a bright pink color. She looked like a kid who just had their crush confessed to them and now was pink. James didn't realize it but he wished it was him that had that effect on her.
"Come on Lion." He whispered in her ear, she nodded obviously giddy and opened the compartment door and walked back inside leaving him missing her presence.
