Ninjago Impostor Zane AU

The Ninja are sent on a mission by Cyrus Borg. To get samples from a new found planet he believes carries cures to incurable diseases.

They go aboard the spaceship and take off.

Once reaching the planet they take various samples of rocks and sand.. yet Zane finds one rock in particular which he scans and finds there is a lifeform on it. He tells the others and takes it with them, curious to see what the research on the ship already would reveal.

During research the others keep on their space suits as safety measures, while Zane is not too worried and takes his helmet off.

Research goes well and indeed, the minerals in the rocks and sand can be used as medicine for various diseases.

Inspecting the rock with the lifeform in it is more challenging though. Zane stays up all night and day on their journey back.. not knowing that the lifeform on the rock in fact is a parasite and also no longer on the rock but inside him.

Even though doing various scans to check whether the lifeform was still on the rock and his systems saying it was still on there.. in fact it was not. The parasite was messing with his systems for a few days.. until one day he noticed something indeed was inside of him.. something of slimy consistency yet other times he could hear it grinding against his compartments.

Once noticing this he told the others to stay away from him, that he will contaminate and go into isolation.

In said isolation the unnoticeable symptoms became clear as glass. At times he was clearly functioning perfectly well.. yet he could not remember what happened during periods of time, as if knocked out. Other times it was like the parasite was controlling him, though he could fight against it. The parasite seemed to keep growing, which made him feel incredibly uneasy, feeling the sliminess and grinding fill his whole body.. and all that within a few days. The symptoms grew stronger, it became harder to fight the parasite controlling his body.

Not to mention, watching Zane suffer these symptoms without being able to do a thing was incredibly horrifying for the other four as well. They were all hoping they would make it back home soon and that they would be able to remove whatever occupied Zane.

They were so close to home.. yet the parasite had enough control to break isolation.

"Zane..? What are you doing?" Lloyd asks, backing away from the laboratory doors.

"I don't know- please stay away." Zane replies, silent tears rolling down his cheeks, exhausted from the past days, unable to fight the parasite.

Lloyd nodded and was about to sprint away to warn the others, possibly they would be able to lock the cockpit and stay safe.

Too late.

Both Zane and Lloyd gasped when Zanes stomach slightly cracked open, something sharp and black shooting out of it to grab Lloyds leg, making him fall. A small pained sob escaped Zanes mouth, the physical and emotional pain overwhelming.

Lloyd struggled trying to get up, managing to but once he did, Zane grabbed his head, whipping it around and snapping it.

Zane watched paralysed as Lloyd dropped to the ground. No no no.. this is a bad dream. A bad dream... he thought, trying to fight the parasite to kneel down and hold Lloyd... but his body kept moving..

He just killed Lloyd. Well- he didn't.. but the parasite.. using his hands... And his stomach- oh it hurt.. He could feel it was gaping open and it was a horrible feeling.

Why can't it all just end..

Zane was led to the temporary kitchen.. Finding Cole there was not much of a surprise.
