Chapter Eight

They took his mind off of the conflicting situation at hand.

"Channie, I'm going to be going out for a bit."

Chris looked up from where he was doing homework from his desk to the doorway, seeing Minho. "Going where?"

Chris noticed a brief wave of panic flicker across Minho's face. "Um... probably to the grocery store(?)"

Chris looked at Minho suspiciously. "Uh, okay then. Have... fun, Min."

Minho left the room.

Chris sighed as soon as he heard the front door close, some questions immediately filling his head.

Was Minho going to go do some things that were more than human?

Chris tapped his fingers on the table in thought before picking up his pencil again. He mentally decided that he should wait to do anything about it until he met with Tekit and Slick.

Chris sat down on the couch, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands. His homework took way longer than he thought, especially because he barely understood much since his thoughts have been focused on other things during class.

Chris sighed before reaching over and grabbing the television remote, clicking the on button. The television immediately started playing the news channel since that's literally the only thing their whole household ever watches.

Chris' eyebrows furrowed as soon as he read the headline.

Strike and Mega are back?

Huh?

Chris blinked as he stared at the screen, beginning to listen intently to the news caster. 

"...have been seen stopping a couple of criminals, downtown at one of the jewelry stores. This is quite surprising, as the two heroes haven't been seen ever since their true nature has been revealed. During their appearance today, it seems that their intentions were for good. The pair of heroes swiftly took care of the criminals and left..."

Chris watched as some footage from a random bystander's phone was playing on the screen, distinctly showing Strike and Mega apprehend some criminals.

Chris didn't know what to think.

Strike and Mega just made their first public appearance in weeks.

And Minho wasn't home.

Was he?

Paranoid, Chris stood up off of the couch, checking throughout the whole house to see if Minho was indeed he was gone.

Yep, he was gone.

Coincidence?

Chris sat back down on the couch, turning his attention back to the television.

"...if we can get a few interviews with some bystanders. Bora?"

The screen cut to show a woman holding a microphone. "Thank you, Matthew. I'm currently here close to the scene where Strike and Mega appeared. The two heroes left just a few minutes ago, but many people still lingered."

The woman on the screen began to walk back, nearing closer to a crowd of people who were still outside of the store. The woman got the attention of a man who was staring at the building. "Excuse me, sir. Mind doing an interview?"

The man stuffed his hands in his pockets, looking from the camera and then to the woman. "Oh, uh... sure."

The woman smiled. "Great! So, what's your opinion on Strike and Mega appearing again after so long?"

The man looked visibly disturbed. "Uh, well... I don't understand why they are just showing up now. Nobody wants them here, and they certainly have no right to show up after they betrayed all of us like that. They should go burn in hell."

The woman stepped back. "Oh wow... uh, that's quite extreme. Thank you for doing this interview, sir."

The woman walked away from the man and walked up to a different man. "Hello, sir. Do you mind doing a short interview?"

The man looked surprised. "Me? Is this about Strike and Mega?"

The woman nodded. "Yes. What's your opinion on both of them showing up? Do you think they should've?"

The man shrugged. "Well, I don't know. This might be a bit controversial, but... they seemed to have good intentions. All they did was stop a few criminals, they didn't do anything wrong today. I'm quite conflicted about what to think."

The woman nodded. "Interesting. Thank you for doing this inter-"

Chris shut the television off, huffing as soon as the screen turned black. He didn't really know what to think, but one thing was quite clear.

Strike and Mega were back.
