Not Giving Up

The Hangout Part-1

Nate's POV

I saw it coming, a huge truck in our way. The lights blinded my eyes I heard screeching sound  of car the movement of our car was rapid and the car was moved to the other direction then it finally hit a tree. I saw it burn, I felt goosebumps in my skin, a chill running down my spine and an unbearable pain in my heart, guilt, regret. I felt as if a part of me had been  taken away from me.

       I woke up to this nightmare which was always the same story leaving me all sweaty, sad and vunerable early in the morning as the painful memory lingers around me for the rest of the day leaving me in a crappy mood.

           I went to school after leaving my brother who just couldn't stop blabbering about Julie in his school. As if thinking about her and being with her all the time wasn't enough. The thoughts of her never seemed to leave my mind and she was with me all through the school and tutoring her didn't help either.

          I reached school after my job at starbucks and caught up with Julie. She was leaning against her locker staring at  a distance thinking deeply about something. I slowly crept up behind her and simply said "Boo" without thinking she would react. But then she screamed and jumped ten feet away from me. It was hilarious to watch her reaction and I ended up cracking. She looked pissed Uh oh. She started yelling at me and after realizing that we were at hallway she regained her composure.

   She glared at me and said "Just when I was beggining to think that you were a human." 

"Aww did you really think like that? Thats so sweet." I said trying to be cute.

She rolled her eyes and said "Well anyways I was about to ask you if you'd like to go to the hangout with me and the other guys?"

    "The hangout? And define onther guys for me please?", I asked confused.

       "The hangout is a place me Kate and luke found out you'll see it when we go there and other guys include kate, luke, sam, elliot and jason. So, will you come?" She asked me hopefully.

        I was unsure. I was not really the type to socialize and make new friends anymore. Julie was my only friend now, and yes I've come to accept the fact that Julie is my friend.

    "Maybe", I said unsure.

"Please try to come Nate" she said " I know you don't like to socialize but once you meet my friends you wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

       Since, I like this crazy, persuasive girl I would do anything to spend a little more time with her. And who knows what I might get.

"Okay", I said.

"Really?", She asked.

"Yes Julie", I said.

She jumped with happiness and did a crazy happy dance. We laughed and went to the classroom. The rest of the day went by as usual. Tomorrow was the day to go to the hangout and I was more nervous than excited.

        Then friday came and the classes went by in a blur. Seems like everyone in the group only wanted the day to end so that they could get to the better part of the day. I hired a babysitter for Jayden and got on my car to go to Julie's house. All of us had decided to meet there and go.

     There I saw everybody were getting ready and packing foodstuff and I mean a lot of foodstuffs and I started having second thoughts of what we will be doing there.

    Julie saw me and came up to me we chatted a little and she wanted me to meet her friends.

   "Guys this is Nate", she said.

Everybody came up to me and introduced themselves.

"Hey man I'm Luke" a guy said who I assume is Julie's best freind.

"Hey" I said and shook hands.

"I'm Kate and you are Nate aren't you? we can totally be twins" Kate said with real enthusiasm not even joking.

      I was shocked by the craziness of this gang. Everybody was exitedly packing for the trip talking about god knows what. I remember when I used to be this way. God, I talk like an old man at 84 and it has been only a year since the incident. But, for me everyday feels too long and goes by in a blur.

          I also met Sam who was gay, apparently and eyeing me up like a piece of candy. Then I met Elliot and Jason who were shooting me death glares and I wonder why. Then, we finally finished packing. Wasn't it just a two days, one night trip? Will we really use all that stuff. There were things for barbecue, football, guitar, mattresses, clothes, food a whole cartoon of beer, mini fridge and what not. There were three cars to take us there.

     Julie and me went in my Audi, Sam, Luke and Kate in their BMW and Elliot and Jason in their Mercedes. I followed the other two cars and the ride was not so fun since Julie decided to turn the radio in it's full volume and showed some of her great singing skills, note the sarcasm. I'm amazed the window's of my car are still safe.

      Then we finally got to the place and the hangout as they liked to call it, was one hell of a place with a big beautiful lake in the middle surrounded with the forest and a small wooden cabin at the side. I wondered how beautiful it would look at night, today being full moon.

        Just as we got there kate shouted "The two people who get in the bed first will sleep on it tonight." and started running. Julie jumped out off the car running faster than the road runner. I stood there stunned but when I realized what was happening I ran with all that I had and in a few moments, I reached the cabin with other person whom I didn't bother seeing and jumped on the bed the same time the other person did. Seems like there was only one bed atvthe cabin.

    After few moments we both were breathing normally and turned to the other side to see who the person was and when we both realized that we were each others bed partner our eyes went wide as we stared wide eyed to one another without saying anything.

    I was going to sleep with JULIE, wow I mean really. What a coincidence. Tonight sure will be fun.
