Genesis's POV:
I observed as he slowly opened his eyes before quickly jumping back. After a second, his face relaxed and he let out a sigh of relief as he put his hand on his chest, "You scared the shit out of me," He said huskily.
"Sorry," I apologized awkwardly and placed my hand on the back of my neck, "But your TV taught me a lot!" I beamed. A sudden burst of energy bubbled through me as I thought of all the exciting things I had encountered through the technology.
"Oh yeah?" He chuckled at my excitement, "I'm glad you liked the show," His hands travelled to his eyes and he rubbed circles in them with his fingertips and sniffed through his nose.
"Yeah it's great," I flashed a cheerful smile and turned back to the screen and quickly furrowed my eyebrows when I noticed the screen had dramatically changed. It had greyed out over Monica's face and it read "are you still watching?" with the options "back " and "continue watching".
I stood up and started walking towards the TV.
"What the heck are you doing?" I heard the boy's voice from behind me. I wasn't quite used to his name yet. In fact I had only heard it once so I simply referred to him in my mind as "the boy" even though he was similar in age to me.
"To fix the thing," I answered calmly and tapped the screen in the spot where the option to continue watching appeared when he burst out laughing. I ignored him and squinted at the device.
Did I press the wrong one?
Let me reread it.
No that's the right one.
Does it not use touch to activate.
I lightly pressed the object again.
Maybe I need that rectangular object with the buttons.
I turned back to see the boy with his hand over his mouth laughing hysterically as his other hand reached for the nightstand where the weird box with buttons was.
"It's not a touch screen you need the remote," He managed to utter in between uncontrollable laughs.
(Credits to @DaddyMadi3 for inspiring this idea through one of her comments. It was way too funny not to include.)
"Well how does that work?" I raised my eyebrows and sporadically flung my hands up in frustration, obviously flustered due to the confusion. Technology was always so confusing for no reason. Why was it all so different when they could put everything on one device or make the different electronics function the same?
"Come sit, I'll show you," He shook his head as his cackling began to settle and patted the bed next to him. He shifted to the side to leave room for me to sit.
I did as he said and sat beside him as he showed me the box. It had many buttons on it. There were rows on the bottom that were labeled by numbers while others read "imput," "menu," and "ok." There were also two buttons of a larger size that seemed to have two functions, labeled with a + and a - at either side of the elongated button. Another control had two lines and an arrow with a slash in between the two.
"Okay, so this right here is the pause and play button," He gestured to the button with the lines and the arrow, "When you click it, it stops the show temporarily until you click it again when you want to unpause it and start watching again."
