After the double date, Abel and I went home. We stood outside my door and talked.
"So, Kate huh.", I said
"Yes...I know what you're thinking, no, I don't like her.", said Abel
"Why?"
"I'm just not particularly attracted to her."
"I never would have thought you were so into looks."
"What? No, I mean...we get along fine, and we make each other laugh, but the way we look at the world is too different."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, firstly, she's not Christian-"
"Oh, come on.", I exclaimed
"What? That's important."
"Why? You're not going to marry her right now, are you?"
"Well, what if we keep dating? Then what?"
"Then you keep dating, so what?", I said
"Dating isn't something trivial. You either marry the person you date, or you break up with the person you date."
"Sheesh."
"You know I'm right. You're going to face the same thing with Vanessa one day."
Since I just told her that I loved her, I believed he was right. After our conversation we headed home. The next day, I awoke to a knock at my door. It was Uncle Eric, so I let him in.
"Hello, son.", he smiled. He walked in with a big toolbox
"Hi..."
"I just came over because your mom said you had a leaking pipe under the sink."
Uncle Eric always helped out around the house, whenever something broke. I didn't know anything about being a handyman, and I never really enjoyed repairing things. Uncle Eric, however, had a passion for it...maybe that's why he enjoyed helping us out so much. He fixed the pipe and my mum thanked him. He left quite abruptly because he had business to attend to.
"Why is Uncle Eric so busy?", I asked
"Well, he runs his own factory, darling."
"Do you think he could teach me about business?"
"Maybe, if that's what you want."
I looked up to Uncle Eric... After he left, I went over to Abel's house. We then went to the stairs, to talk.
"Do you want to see a poem I wrote?", he asked
"Poem? You write poetry now?"
"Well, no...I just tried it out..."
"Okay, let me see.", I read
"A Revelation
I am strong
I am weak
Yet not a single tear rolls down my cheek
I am full
I am hungry
Lies surround the truth above me
I am feeling
I am numb
I die more than once before the day is done
I am light
