This is Jacey, the main character in this book

The sunlight gazed through the windows, and I blinked my eyelids until my eyes got use to the brightness in the room. The alarm clock was still buzzing for the past two minutes. I shifted to my right side and slammed my palm on top of the alarm clock to cease the buzzing. I covered my eyes with my favorite fluffy pillow to stop the sunlight from reaching my eyes and pulled my blue and white blanket, that my mom made me before she passed away, over my shoulders. It had been four years since she got in a fatal car accident that burned her whole body, making her unrecognizable. I treated her more like friend than a mom. It took me and my dad a while to recover from her passing.I decided to finally get myself up. I swung my legs over the side of my bed and stood on my two feet. I stretched my arms up, broadening my shoulders and slipped into my soft pink slippers before walking into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I didn't want to be late again for school as always, so I quickly put on the outfit I had picked out the night before, a solid light blue v-necked t-shirt with a dark blue jeans that stuck to my shaved legs. I ran over to the counter and grabbed my brush, running it through my long strawberry blonde hair. I plugged my hair straightner into the outlet by my white vanity. While it was warming up, I opened my makeup drawer to get out my mascara, eyelash curler and eyeliner. I didn't want too much on my face, otherwise it would make me look old and I did not want that.
I tilted my head and just barely kept my eyes cracked open to see as I winged my eyeliner. I curled my eyelashes and applied mascara to both my top and bottom lashes. I turned my attention to the straightener which seemed to be heated up by now. I quickly sprayed some heat protectant and massaged a frizz control serum into my hair. I clutched it, feeling the heat race to the palm of my hand. I set my hair between the two iron prongs and began to straighten a small piece and continued this method throughout my hair. Once I finished my last strand, I braided my bangs and pinned them back. I unplugged it and placed it back in the top drawer of the vanity. I took a final look at myself in the oval mirror and was convinced at what I was seeing. I chose a golden ring from my jewelry holder and planted it in my pointer-finger. I spotted my phone near the holder. I picked it up and hustled over to the corner of my closet, grabbed my brown combat boots and pulled them onto my feet.
I started out the door and into the dining room. I found my dad sitting at the end of our large dining table. I loved the smell of breakfast. This morning the smell of freshly cooked pancakes filled the house. Everything was already set on the table except for some coffee. I would always have coffee with my breakfast, I don't think I could live without it. A servant walked into the dining room, setting my coffee down near my plate.
"Good morning daddy!" I greeted my dad as I sat down.
"Mornin' sweetheart." He replied, his nose buried in this morning's paper. I grabbed the pancake platter and piled two pancakes onto my plate. I spooned fresh picked strawberries on the pancakes, then added some whipped cream. To top it off, I drizzeled maple syrup over the whipped cream. I leisurely ate my pancakes, savoring every bite. I took a sip of my coffee, burning my tongue and got up from my seat.
I lifted my head, reading the time on the clock. 7:46. School started in forty-four minutes. I had to leave now if I wanted to get to my locker before first period. I had Calculus as my first period and let me just tell you, it's not a very easy class. So I would have to be there before the lecture started.
I my backpack up from the ground and set it on my shoulders. As I clenched my hoodie into my hand, I ran out the door."Bye dad!" I called over my shoulder.
I scurried over to my blue volkswagon bug, which was parked in the driveway. I ducked my head as I threw my backpack onto the passenger seat and jammed my phone into my back pocket. Once I sat down in the driver seat I inserted the keys and the engine started to roar. While driving down the familiar route, I couldn't help but wonder why we lived so far away from the town. Why were we separated from the world? I've been living in that house for the past twelve years and this question never came up then.
