See You Again

It's been a long day without you, my friend,

And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again.

A shock of green hair almost seemed to blend in with its surrounding shrubbery as it rose over a hill. A tan, lanky figure attached to the jade mop of hair came into view, shouldering a backpack. When he reached the top of the hill, he sat, back facing the shroud of dark, tall trees that surrounded the glade.

We've come a long way from where we began...

Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again.

The figure unzipped his bag, taking out something coiled around his phone. He unraveled it, sticking one of the two parts in his ear. Sighing, he turned back to face the front, where a glorious scene of ever-changing hues were painting itself under a dim orange sun.

"Nerd."

Izuku whipped around, ready to leap into action to fight off the oncoming intruder. But when he saw who it was, relief broke over his features like a wave.

He patted the green blades of grass next to him, and Katsuki sat down lightly, picking up the other end of the earbud and stuffing it in his ear.

They watched the sunset for a while, sitting in comfortable silence, the music speaking for them. Finally, Izuku glanced at Katsuki. To his surprise, his eyes were already on him, and their gazes locked.

Damn, who knew?

All the planes we flew, good things we've been through,

That I'll be standing right here,

Talking to you 'bout another path...

Katsuki broke the silence first.

"So, Nerd", he murmured, turning his eyes back to the sun. "How's it been? You and hero work, I mean."

I know we loved to hit the road and laugh,

But something told me that it wouldn't last.

Izuku didn't respond for a while, staring at Katsuki. When he did, he looked down at his jean-clad knees.

Had to switch up, look at things different, see the bigger picture,

Those were the days, hard work forever pays,

Now I see you in a better place.

"I'm the number one hero now, I guess. I fought my way up the charts and took your place after you left."

"Good. I expected nothing less from All Might's successor."

How could we not talk about family when family's all that we got?

Everything I went through, you were standing there by my side,

And now you gon' be with me for the last ride...

Izuku let the gusts of wind that swept the glade air his skin. He ran his hands through his hair, sighing.

"By the way, we all miss you, especially your "Bakusquad" and I. We wished you'd come back, be the face of our society again. Heck, you could even steal my spot from #1 for yourself again."
