By now I'm assuming everyone knows what South Park is, it's been on for 23 years. The show is one of my favorites and Tweek Tweak is one of my favorite characters. Something about his paranoid spastic and sweet personality hooked me. One of the episodes in season 6, Tweek is paranoid about being kidnapped and almost is due to his parents being bad at their job of parenting. That episode ended up being "Child Abduction isn't Funny". The sad apart is that the episode was originally titled "Tweek gets Kidnapped" and was gonna be much darker.
The episode starts off with the same plotline we are familiar with: The media is currently full of school shootings, terrorist threats, and child abductions, which causes the parents of South Park to grow concerned about the safety of their children. Tweek is, of course, scared the most by the media reports, and his parents are no help and only increase his fears by turning their house into a virtual prison and conducting random drills. All of which are random and give him several panic attacks.
The plot stays relatively the same except for what was to come, the next night, the Ghost of Human Kindness appears in his room. The Ghost of Human Kindness is the child abductor that almost got Tweek in the final version of the episode. He takes him through town to show him that there are still friendly people out to help each other in the town. But this time, instead of being arrested just before he can lure Tweek into his van, he succeeds in capturing poor little Tweek Tweak. He screams and cries out for his mommy as he is driven away off-screen.
With Tweek missing, the parents are on high alert. They buy grotesque helmet-like tracking devices for their children. It doesn't help, as on their way to school, Kenny sees something lying in the gutter. It was Tweek's button-up shirt. Now in a state of panic, the citizens of South Park do what they do in the final version of the episode and have Mr. Kim build a wall. It's never finished as the news reports that parents are the most likely to abduct their own children. There's a cutaway joke about a Woman named Caren taking the kids, which in hindsight would have been hilarious if they kept in. The parents panic and abandon their children.
As the main four boys worry about their future, Cartman being the dick he is says that he'd the first to eat Kyle if they starved, they stumble upon a tragedy. Tweek lay dead in an alleyway. Kyle screams, "Oh my God" and Stan then says, "THEY KILLED TWEEK TWEAK!!" The boys then realize that the abductor is still on the loose and that they are in real danger. A shadow soon looms over them. They turn around and look in horror. We are never shown who they are starring at, as the episode ends with Kenny being killed from the killers POV and Kyle screaming "OH MY GOD!", as the screen fades to black and credits roll.
Now as for the reason why this episode was changed before airing comes down to one person. That person is the voice actor for Tweek, Matthew Stone. From what I could gather, the episode wasn't fully animated at the time the decision to change it was made. In fact, it was still in the storyboard phase with the voice work completed in order to animate lipsync. As for why Matt wanted the episode to be changed came down to one personal issue. Once the voice work was finished his spouse had called him. She told him about an experience she had during her childhood, that she was nearly killed after being abducted at age 9. Not wanting to have her experience PTSD when watching it, he asked Trey to rewrite and rename the episode. When asked what to rename it, Matt told Trey what his wife told him, "Child Abduction isn't Funny."
