A Strange Time in an even Stranger Place

The Story Begins And Ends

As I'm writing this, its the year 2170, November 23rd, humans are dying out, the earth is starting to freeze over, only 3 billion humans still exist with less and less each year, we're trying to find a new planet to live on, the closest planet is the newly discovered planet, Mars, named after Professor Trey Mars, the man who found the planet orbiting a healthy sun, they're sending a research team here at the Modonus Astronomy Center, a research and exploration team i should say, its about 100 people, that was a month ago though, they're coming back in an hours time to give us news of mars and if its habitable, they say they found a strange and large creature living in mars's oceans, they said it was blue but won't give anymore details as to what it is, i hope to hear about what they say.

It's been about an hour and a half since i last wrote, they came back saying mars was habitable and the entire human race can thrive amongst the grass and trees littered about the planet, they said the wildlife is incredibly docile, but prefer to keep their distance as we are new to them, they also say that whatever it was they found in that ocean, was very, very hostile, and its best to avoid them, they're now readying the rockets for the human race to go to mars, ill write again when we land. 

We've landed and this planet is, very green, greener than Earth surprisingly, the oxygen is pure. its spring currently, we're planning on setting up a research center here to explore the oceans and research that thing the exploration team told us about but were curious beings and we went against their word, some people brought some crops from earth to plant here so we have a sense of home which is, thoughtful to some, and strange to others but i think its a good idea because we dont know whats good and not good to eat on this strange planet, there is some strange blue fruit that the exploration team ate that didnt hurt them in any way so, its good to eat those i suppose, we're planning to explore further than base camp, scope out the area, ill write again some time.

It's been almost a month since i last wrote in this, nothing has really changed other than we have some livestock, theyre rather strange looking from the animals we've seen on this planet, they're more black than the navy blue we've seen on some of the animals around camp, which is rather odd to us, as they seemed to have been outcasted by their own kind, we assume that the creatures we have are cows and pigs, possibly sheep, we don't know though as we still need to do some research on them, so far all we know is that their pigment is different from their own species, as they're more blue than the black ones we have, they do taste rather wonderful though, we have started building the Modonus Research Center, we only have the foundations built, something i forgot to mention is that we took the technology we had back on earth, some plants we have growing are a lot like tea leaves, we havent made them into tea quite yet as we're still skeptical about them, we have plans to build a town or city here, we don't quite know yet, we have cut down some trees to build a pen for the creatures we have, ill write when i have more info, before i do i should mention something about the landscape, it turns out we are not alone, we found a small town about 6 miles away from base camp, we're planning to visit them in 2 months time, they dont look aggressive, but we don't know yet, there's also something about the mountains that we discovered, they move, we don't know how or what they are, if the mountains are alive, we don't know but we're interested by them, whatever they are, i'll write again when i have more information on what's happening.

So, the locals are peaceful, we had some trade with them, what we traded? i don't know as i wasn't there, but apparently they're called the "Aratoks", strange name, but, this is a new planet so we should expect the unexpected, the mountains moved again, they're 2 miles from where we last saw them, we found creatures that don't leave footprints which is strange, we call them wraiths, the Aratoks call them wendigos, which is a mythical creature back on earth, i won't talk anymore on that subject, all we know is that these wraiths are dangerous and hostile and only appear at night,  we try our best to get everyone inside, we've only had 1 death from the wraiths, i don't know how it happened as i wasn't there, and they won't tell anybody who wasn't there how it happened, we're trying to build home as fast as possible in case these wraith creatures decide to attack our tents, i'll write again soon.
