Himoko's POV
I huff in annoyance as I picked at the dress I currently wore for Basco's birthday party. It's been several days in a row of wearing constricting dresses, especially today after I ate so much food, I highly doubt I was going to eat at the feast.
I glance over to where Basco sat, softly giggling when he seemed to be enjoying himself with so much food around, in the end, I will probably give him my own share.
"If you keep frowning like that, you are going to get an earful from the King," Sadem told me with a small amused grin on his face. I roll my eyes, looking over at him. Seeing that he was back in his uniform.
"Weren't you not supposed to come to the party?" I ask him with a furrow of my brows in confusion. He sighs heavily, nodding softly. "I was, then I was forcibly switched stations. Now, I am to look out for any suspicious characters." I smile, "Like Long Feng?" I joke as we spot him walking into the room with two young ladies following after him. Sadem looks to Long Feng, nodding before whispering, "With two ladies in tow? Yeah, definitely a suspicious character. The man is like- 40." I smile in amusement, listening to him chuckle before he leaned down slightly to whisper in my ear. "You look wonderful by the way. Nobody would know that you are such a pain in my ass." He teased me. "And you as well. People are looking at you as if you will just start earth bending out of nowhere."
"Good." I blinked in confusion, my ear twitching when I picked up on a familiar voice, coming right from one of the girls with Long Feng
"I'm Kwa-mai, and this is Dung." 'That voice...'
"Sadem, I will talk to you later. Don't cause too much trouble." I tell him as I walk across the floor, feeling his eyes on the back of my head.
---
Toph furrows her brows, sending a new figure coming into the picture- a figure that slightly intimidated that earth bender, which was unusual. Toph wasn't afraid of anything, especially a person who held the building of a teenage girl.
"Now where is your family? I'd love to meet them." Long Feng questions the two, Katara quickly thinking of an excuse.
"Um... I don't see 'em right now. But I'm sure we'll find them soon. Thanks for your help." The two quickly bow before walking away. Long Feng passing them like a shadow, now standing in front of them.
"Don't worry, as your escort, it would be dishonorable to abandon you, ladies, without finding your families first. We'll keep looking." Long Deng turns around after giving Katara a chilling smile, Toph's eyes widening. The Advisor turns and comes almost face to face with the Princess of Omashu.
"Oh, Kwa-mai! Dung, I was looking for you two. I thought you weren't coming?" Katara's eyes widen, instinctively looking around Long Deng, her heart-stopping once she saw Himoko. Adorned in royal clothing and jewelry, her hair in a side braid that hangs down from her left shoulder, while a small crowned pin was stuck to the side of her head. Her eyes shined in the light as she smiles at Long Feng.
"Your Highness, you know these two?" Himoko nods, "I do, yes. They are daughters of officials from Omashu. They came yesterday with the rest of the refugees." Long Feng's brows arch, feeling suspicious of the Princess' explanation.
"I can take them off of your hands. No offense, Royal Advisor. But no young lady is quite comfortable being led away from the public eye by a much older man." Toph smirks, 'Okay, I like her now.' Long Feng grunts, his jaw tightening.
"Why yes, I suppose so."
"I will help find their parents. Besides, I believe Basco wants more pig roast." Himoko looks over to where Basco sat at the table, ready to eat the two men over by him after finishing the last of the food at the table. Long Feng sighs, nodding. He couldn't argue against that.
