Chapter six: a trickster

Iris POV
As the fighting continues I feel myself getting tired but mirage looks wore out too. Now it's just about who'll make the first mistake. As he throws a punch his footing seems off as I go to sweep him off his feet. He jumps and kicks me down
"I thought you'll be better"
He says cockily
"And I thought you'll be more handsome"
I said with venom in my voice
As he pulls out a wingman out of nowhere?
He aims it at me and I get ready to meet my end as I close my eyes I hear him grunt
I open my eyes slowly to see airis behind him with his knife

Airis POV
As I push the knife deeper he coughs up blood
Then I quickly pull the knife out as he slowly falls to the ground
I can't help but smile
"I thought you had this under control"
I say with a small laugh
She rolls her eyes at me and says
"I did, I just messed up"
That's a first I think to myself as I pick up anything useful from his box I hear iris say
"What happened to us? We were happy together"
I can't help but feel a bit mad
"You were happy, I was being abused by you. I wasn't happy"
I quickly get up and begin walking away
"Remember. If we meet at the last ring, I won't go so easy"

Iris POV
I can't help it but cry a little
I knew what I did was wrong, I was just scared he would find someone better. I was always a scared little girl
I sigh aloud and get up as I start to walk towards the ring. I can't help but feel like I'm being watched

Damn skinsuit gotta take her out but I try taking him out. As I begin to follow her I can tell she's getting anxious. I better break off for now. You'll be screaming soon enough skinsuit.

Airis POV
I hear so much shots but I better play it safe. A sniper and smg won't go together In a fight.
As I see someone in the distance I scope in. I see some lady that has her hair in a bun
She looks at my position immediately as I look at her. Something isn't right I quickly get off my sniper spot and make a run for another spot. I can't help but feel like I'm being followed but I pay no mind no person should be near me at the moment.
As I continued to walk towards my new position. I hear a stick break behind me. I turn as fast as I could just to feel something go into my side
I fall to ground holding my side as I pull my hand away I feel sharp pain then I realized I got stabbed. As I look at my attacker. It seems that it was the lady with the bun but how? She was down the hill. No one couldn't get up here that fast
I try to get up to try and fight back the stab wound is too painful for me to move
I quickly throw myself at her. Trying to at least be up a fight
"I won't go down that easily lady."
I say with a hint of confidence
"Confidence will get you nowhere"
She replies
Talk about edgy
As I try to get into a fighting stance. I feel the sharp pain again that wound really is messing me up
I get into a somewhat decent stance
"C'mon then, let's see what you got"
I say a bit aggressive
She lunges at me
I try my best to dodge but she slashes my arm
"Y'know what, you're starting to get in my nerves"
I quickly punch her and successfully landing a hit
"Big mistake"
She says, clearly angry
She goes through some kind of portal?
Phase technology
That shouldn't be on humans
I think to myself
She's not a Simulacrum
I try my best to look for the particles left by the effect of the phase shift technology
"Shit.."
I say to myself
"Behind you"
I hear the lady say behind me
I try my best to react but i get stabbed again
I grunt loudly
I fall to the ground, accepting defeat
"Where did you get your gear?"
I hear the lady ask
"Wha-what?"
I say, clearly tired
"I said where did you get your gear, pilot?"
I curse to myself
"This is my gear, I'm a retired pilot"
I hear her sigh
"Imc or militia?"
I close my eyes
"Mercenary"
I hear her get up
"Take this"
She tosses down a medkit next to me
"Don't expect this too often, old friend"
Then just like that, she phases away
I sigh getting up slowly
"Old friend? Hm. She didn't look familiar"
I quickly use the medkit and make my way to a sniping location
As I scope in, I see iris in the distance
Wonder how she's doing

*time skip*

Iris POV
"Last ring countdown"
I sigh to myself
"I'm sorry airis"
I mumble to myself
"Sorry for what?"
I hear airis behind me
I jump a little
"Don't do that!"
He chuckles a little
"You're fine"
I pout a little
"Still!"
He drops his smile
"I already took out the other three, it's just me and you"
I get scared a little, cause I know he doesn't mess around
"S-so umm..how are we gonna do this?"
I say a little scared
"Hand to hand?"
I step back a little cause I know he has more training
"Uhh-umm. Y'know I'm not good at hand to hand"
He rubs his eyes, then bursts into a fit a laughter
"Yeah I know, then we're do this"
He pulls out a grenade out of his backpack
"Umm..airis what are you planning?"
He smiles a little
"Simple! We're both gonna blow up"
I gulp, clearly scared
"But wouldn't that hurt?"
He smirks
"Well yeah, but we don't die. We..how do I say this without scarring you..we respawn, let's say that!"
I sit down
"Is that why they asked us to stand in that chamber"
He stands straight
"Yeah, so ready?"
I stand up
"Ready as I'll ever be"
He pulls the pin and hugs me
"I missed you"
That's the last thing I hear, before the grenade goes off

"We have our apex champions"
