Bonnie saw Garthe heading for Michael and she knew she had to intercede on his behalf.

"Garthe, please..." she shouted, in protest. Horror shining in her blue-green eyes as she tried to stop him. But Garthe, once he was on the war path could not be easily dissuaded.

"Leave me be! Michael is getting what is coming to him and then you will get what is coming to you," Garthe brutishly snapped flicking her hand off of his shoulder.

But Bonnie wasn't going to give up so easily. Just as the blade started it's descent towards Michael's raising and lowering chest, Bonnie threw herself in front of her co-worker's chained figure.

"NOOOO!! Bonnie!!! Don't!!! Michael cried, but his words were too late to prevent her from completing her mission. A horrified cry escaped her lips as the knife violently sank into her stomach. She stumbled backwards and into Michael's stunned figure.

"Bonnie....." Michael gasped, too shocked and too outraged to say anything further.

Garthe twisted the blade in surprise, disgust, and then amusement before pulling it out. Scarlet bubbled up and over the wounded and exposed flesh. Her expression contorted as she gasped for air and her knees gave way beneath her.

"Remember Bonnie, this is what happens when you get in my way," Garthe spat. The cruel man took his leave in order to avoid having to hear Michael complain, groan, and plead for help.

The twinkling of chains could be heard as Michael rushed to follow her fall to the ground, his cuffed hands struggled to hold her sinking weight. He collected her bleeding figure into his lap, as best he could under the circumstances.

Garthe laughed and boomed, "that went better than I expected. Too bad Bonnie will die in your place, Michael Knight!"

"Garthe.... please....do....do what you want with me...but... but get Bonnie help. Please!!! Please. She's never done anything to you!!!" Michael desperately implored, the tears streaming down his paling face.

A twisted grin spread across Garthe's cheeks and he breathed, "no. I'm killing two birds with one stone. It's easy to see you love her. By killing her, I will make you endure the greatest pain ever imaginable! That is more rewarding that killing you!" A cruel and unbothered chuckle escaped his lips as he answered.

Bonnie covered the oozing wound with her hands and she whimpered as the lower half of her body seemed to grow numb. She smiled bravely up at Michael and she choked, "it's... it's just a sc...scratch... Mi...Michael."

"Just....just a scratch? Bonnie let me see it," Michael timidly implored, his tone shaking with concern and grief.

Pushing her hands away from the wound, Michael let out an awestruck gasp. "Bonns...." he sobbed, in a tone barely loud enough to be considered a whisper. Horror radiated in his usually dauntless and dazzling blue eyes.

Her watery blue-green eyes lifted to lock lazily and apprehensively upon his, Finicky breaths prevented her from saying his full name all at once. "Mi...cha...el?"

"Bonnie? That is...is.... more than just a scratch....." he choked in reply. He could hardly hide the emotional wad rising to clog his throat.

Bonnie's eyes closed for a brief moment, in an attempt to block out the pain.... but it didn't work.

"Hey.... hey, you can't.... can't go to sleep on me baby," Michael breathed in concern.

"Mi...Micha...Michael...I.....I... I..." she stammered softly.

He suffered a small smile at her attempts to speak to him, "don't talk now, Bonnie. Focus on survival. We're gonna make it out of here. I know we are." His voice cracked bitterly as he tried to subdue the violent terror eating away at him. Somehow he knew she'd never make it home with him.
