"Ow! Be gentle!! My skin is very delicate."

Frank looked at William with a bored expression. "Quit being such a baby," he said in annoyance. "My god, this one's whiney."

Stephanie knew she made the right choice when she came to Frank. He had immediately seen to William the minute he carried him from the car, no questions asked.

It was one of the main reasons she liked her former partner. He was a shoot-now-ask-questions-later kind of guy when he worked. That and he brought her doughnuts and coffee each morning.

They were in Frank's living room. It was nothing too fancy. Two cream couches, a coffee table, a small vase with a single lily and...well, that's it. Frank had never been one to decorate his house extravagantly. Each room in his home was simple.

Stephanie was scared when she tried explaining to Frank who she brought to him. She was scared because she knew he had a grudge against William all those years ago, and that he would refuse to help him.

But she was wrong. It settled in Frank's mind for a second that he was helping the criminal he helped lock up thirty years ago, and took him no time at all to get over it, throw it over his shoulder, and get back to work, no longer holding a grudge.

William had woken up three hours after Frank had started working on him. He was in pain, as he said he would be. Immense pain to be exact. He screamed into a pillow for five minutes straight before allowing Frank to continue.

Frank was now currently stitching the wound closed and William was whining. Frank had taken the bullet out earlier with precision and delicacy. It was a really nerve wrecking first hour for both Frank to do and Stephanie to watch.

She still remembered the day Frank told her that he had actually worked as a surgical doctor for 3 years before resigning and becoming a detective. She was shocked to say the least, and tried to imagine the usually drunk man in doctor's uniforms. Needless to say, it was disturbing.

"Stephanie, can you get me a glass of whiskey if you don't mind?" Frank asked without looking up. His glasses were perched on the tip of his nose as he slowly worked.

"May I get as well?" William asked excitedly, but then flinched at a sharp sudden pain. He thought better of it. "Nevermind," he said grudgingly with a frown. Frank grinned.

Stephanie trudged to the kitchen in search of Frank's collection. She opened the fridge and found 2 bottles at the back and both were untouched. She took one, poured it out and went back to the living room.

Frank stepped back from his work when Stephanie came back with his glass. He nodded a thank you and finished it in one quick swig. William marveled in the man's ability to down a whole glass of what he assumed to be strong, hardcore whiskey in a matter of seconds. Frank didn't even hiccup when he placed the glass on the coffee table, but actually looked even more concentrated.

"Since we're all on better terms, mind explaining why this man is in my house with a bullet wound?" Frank drawled as he drew the blood stained needle back.

Stephanie sunk into the opposite couch with an exhausted huff. "This guy came and attacked me," she explained nonchalantly.

William looked offended, but his face clearly showed a playful side to it. "In my defence I was being mind controlled thank you very much," he argued.

"Excuse me?" Frank said in disbelief with his eyebrows arched up high on his forehead. "How on earth did you manage to get yourself mind controlled?"

"Simple really. I developed something years ago that could take control of the human mind."

"Is that what this bunny killer used?"
