"Wait what, I asked the supervisor, Mrs Hodgins, for the fifth time now. Not because I have a hearing problem. But because what she was saying was utterly unbelievable.
"Miss Morphis, I know you understood me the first time I told you." She answered me in a very professional tone.
"Yeah, but do you think you can repeat it? I think I lost the ability to understand simple English over the summer..." I explained hopefully that that is exactly what had happened. But she answered with a look that a parent would give their child when they have said something that is not necessarily true.
"Fine. So be it then." I admitted defeat.
"Hey Quinn, look at me," the sudden first name basis calling surprised me cause she was always so strict about being professional on campus. I looked at her. "It's not so bad, this dorm is big enough to fit two people comfortably. It has two separate rooms and bathrooms."
"I know that. But it still doesn't change the fact that I'll have male species walking through that door!" I whined and pointed at the door.
"You will live. Now I'm afraid I have other problems to attend to other than your hearing problems." she smiled at me and walked to the door. "Bye"
I waved, grumpy as ever.
Why had nobody told me that this goddamn building accepts males now as well?! Then again they probably wrote it on their webpage, to which I don't pay attention to because who in their right minds would think "Yeah let's check just in case my all-girls college suddenly isn't an all-girls college"
My roommate left last year to a boarding school apparently because her parents found weed in her backpack. Since then I've lived here alone, not that I minded. I've always been a distant type.
"Well might as well check who my new roommate is," I said to myself walking out of the empty room.
The roommate arrangements were usually at the back entrance of the building, so I went the familiar way down. The place is empty, but I'm not surprised, I did come a week earlier than what I was supposed to.
I looked at the big whiteboard and looked for my name somewhere at the bottom. Bingo!
'Quinn Morphis, dorm number 47, roommate...
"...Joseph Santora'" I said the name out loud, it had a nice ring to it.
"At your service" said a boy with a breathtaking British accent from behind me. I jumped and turned around immediately only to be greeted by a very tall figure. He smiled showing his perfectly white teeth and gave me his hand.
"I'm Joseph. Nice to meet you..." He looked at me and my face must've gave away the emotional shock I was in at the moment, because he looked behind me at the whiteboard for my name."Quinn" he said looking down because of the height difference.
"Yeah that's me" I managed to mumble something.
"No offence but you are really short. I thought you were my sister!" He exclaimed.
"Well I wasn't fed only milk and vegetables when I was a kid, tall child" I hit back.
"Woah, feisty" he concluded. "I'm sorry" he paused and looked at me. He seemed to have zoned out for a split second but he came back soon. "Can you show me around campus?"
The question caught me by surprise.
"Sure"
