My Un-dead Love

Chapter 3

We arrived at this place that was way too fancy to be a house, just the shape of it was really fancy,

“This is where you live?” I asked, she nodded and turned the car off; I got out the car and followed her inside, a man walked out of a room,

“You must be Isabella, I’m Richard Connelly, nice to finally meet you,” he said and held his hand out to me, I shook it,

“Nice to meet you too Mr Connelly,” I replied, he chuckled,

“That makes me sound old, please just call me Richard,” he told me, I nodded,

“Where’s Leo and Frances?” Helen asked, he signed,

“Out with friends, they won’t be back till later,” he told her, she shook her head,

“Come on Isabella, let’s get you settled,” she gestured for me to follow her,

“You can call me Izzy if you like,” she smiled and nodded.

Helen took me to a room, she opened the door and let me go in first, the lights came on instantly, I smiled, it had a double bed, couch and a walk in cupboard,

“I love it,” I said, she smiled at me,

“Good, it’s yours, there’s clothes in the cupboard and you have your own bathroom over there with everything you need in it,” she told me,

“Thank you,” I said and she walked out.

After having a shower and getting changed I went and explored the house for a few hours, well it took a few hours, and the house was so big.

I heard voices and turned the corner before I could stop myself, I froze, all eyes landed on me, accept for some guy who had his back to me,

“What’s the flyer from the Vikings doing here?” the girl asked, now I remember seeing her on the Bears cheering team,

“Frances that’s rude,” Richard told her,

“Sorry,” she said looking at me, I took a step back, the guy turned around, oh no, and I thought I’d never see him again, he smirked at me,

“You scared her,” he said then looked at Frances, she straightened up,

“I did not, it was probably you and your smartass smirk,” she protested, Helen stepped in,

“Stop it you two, Leo happy birthday, Isabella here,” she gestured to me, “is your present,” she said, he looked at her,

“That’s gross, your giving me a human, who knows what kind of gross human thing she has,” he said, I rolled my eyes, then 3 guys walked up behind me,

“Nice one dude,” the other one from the football team said, I looked back at Leo, he didn’t look too happy about the comment he just made, I looked over at Helen,

“He doesn’t want me, can I go home now?” I asked, she shook her head,

“It’s not safe at your home anymore,” she told me, I leaned against the wall,

“Don’t you think if those people wanted revenge they would have gottin it a long time ago?” she just shook her head, one of the guys stepped in front of me,

“You can come to my house if you want,” he said,

“Shut it Walter before I shut it for you, and why does Leo get a human and all I got was a new jeep?” Frances asked her parents,

“I’d rather a car then being a present any day,” I said and walked out.

I was sitting near my window when I heard a knock on the door, Helen walked in,

“Tea is ready if you’re hungry,” she told me,

“I thought you said Leo was a good guy?” I asked her, she had a sad look on her face,

“He was only acting like that because his friends were around, and he does feel bad,” she said, I looked out the window again,

“I’m not hungry,” I told her, then she walked out, I hugged my knees as I felt warm tears slide down my face.

After a few more minutes there was another knock on my door, I got up from where I was sitting and opened the door, Leo was standing there,

“I’m sorry,” he told me, I went to close the door but he stopped me,

“You’ve been crying,” he said, I looked at him,

“What makes you think that captain obvious,” I said, he wouldn’t let me close the door, I walked over to the window and sat down again, he walked in and closed the door,

“I really am sorry, I don’t act like that ever,” he told me, I looked at him,

“Then why start now?” I asked, he sat on the floor and didn’t look at me,

“Because they were here, my friends,” he said, I went back to looking out the window,

“Then are they really your friends?” I asked him,

“What?” he said, I looked at him,

“Real friends wouldn’t care how you act, but obviously you need to act like a total jerk to be there friend, real friends would let you be yourself,” I told him and looked out the window again,

“I’m sorry, but they are my friends, I’ll do what has to be done to keep it that way,” he said,

“Really, look I don’t care who your friends with, I just won’t let you or them treat me like I’m a piece of shit, I don’t like it, and you shouldn’t have to lie about who you really are just to please them,” I said and got up,

“You don’t know who I really am,” he said, I looked down at him,

“The way your mum describes you I don’t even need to know who you really are to know you’re not a bad guy, and by the way, I don’t have some gross human thing,” I said and walked to my bed, he got up and sat beside me,

“I’m sorry I said that, I could have said worse but I didn’t know if it was true or not,” he said, I shook my head,

“I should have taken your friends offer,” I said, he looked at me confused,

“What, why?” he asked, I smiled to myself,

“I could have knocked him out, dumped him on the side of the road and taken myself home,” I said, he laughed and shook his head,

“It wouldn’t have worked like that, and do you really hate it here that much that you’d take up an offer from Walter?” he asked, I shrugged,

“Well this room is way better than my old one, but it’s not every year…” I was cut off by someone barging in the room, it was Frances,

“Hey Flyer come with me,” she said and grabbed my hand and started dragging me out of the room,

“Leo, come on, you can’t miss this either,” she called back to him, and he started following us,

“Um… my names Izzy,” I told her, she looked at me,

“I know,” she said and opened a door, the room was dark, we walked in and the lights turned on, Helen and Richard set off some party poppers and there was a cake in the middle of the room,

“Happy Birthday Izzy,” they both said in sync, I walked over and looked at the cake, it had my name on it, I smiled, I saw Leo standing near the door, now he looked really confused and cute.
