Chapter 29: Christopher John Andrew

Vanessa’s P.O.V

“I can’t believe you were right, you were just making stupid guesses for god’s sake” Lucy yelled not that it mattered since there was no one at school this late. It was 12am.

“Trust me, I can’t believe it either” I said sitting next to the chair Lucy had just plopped on. I looked down at the man’s picture again.

“We finally found him” I whispered a smile on my face but when I looked at Lucy it fell right off.

“Lucy?” I called her but she just had her head in her hands, her breathing uneven.

“Zach” She whispered and I understood what she was thinking. This was gonna be the biggest blow for him.

“He’ll be okay-“ I was saying when Lucy started shaking her head.

“No, that’s not what I’m…” She left her sentence hanging, her voice hoarse, something that happened when she was about to cry.

“Luce, what’s wrong?” I asked using her nickname knowing that it’d get to her.

“V, if…if he’s really the one doing this” She stopped mid-sentence taking a deep breath. I started rubbing her back comfortingly.

“If he’s the one then I’d be dating the guy whose uncle killed my whole family” She stated chuckling humorlessly. I frowned at her words.

“Lucy, Zach has nothing to do with this; you can’t hold what his family did against him. The poor guy didn’t even know anything” I said to her but with how her eyes were distant I know she wasn’t really listening to me. I turned her to me, grabbing her shoulders and shaking them.

“Listen to me, you can’t think like this. It’s just as hard for him as it is for us and Luke; he was also lied to and kept in the dark all his life. It isn’t his fault in anyway whatsoever. He’s already going to be really hurt when he finds out about this you can’t hurt him more by all these thoughts swirling around your head.” I said to Lucy, her eyes full of worry and fear.

“Luce, you fell for him way before we even knew about this. He’s an amazing guy and he’s perfect for you. You both need to be together, you need to be there for each other. Do you understand?” I said to her, firmly. Just because Zach’s family was fucked up doesn’t mean he was too. She may not see it but they both need each other more than anything and I was gonna make sure that they had each other. Lucy nodded, hugging me and I hugged her back.

“Let’s go home” She said after a while picking up the yearbooks and stuffing them in the backpack she had.

“Actually” I interrupted her. She stopped and looked at me signaling me to continue.

“I had something else in mind”

Elena’s P.O.V

I should’ve asked Alyosha more questions, I thought holding my head in my hands. I couldn’t find anything between him and Irinushka or Jacob. It was starting to really piss me off because I didn’t even know anything I was looking for. Everything about these people had to do with Russian Mafia and even though I was an FBI agent I didn’t spend every day researching on Russian mafia. I was at a dead end. On top of that Lucy and Vanessa still weren’t back, it was 2am I knew they would be okay but I couldn’t help worry about them.
