Stephanie cringed as the heavy doors slammed shut behind her, causing the sound to echo through the entire mall. She cursed silently as she walked down the lavish front entrance. It was actually a really amazing sight.

A smooth red carpet led to a gold - maybe fake gold - statue of one of the new mascots. The bright neon green and pink lights shone brightly as it reflected off the shiny surface of the floor. A single staircase down the middle behind the statue led to an upstairs that went either way. To her side was a large room with bright colours.

Stephanie whistled as she grew close to the statue and admired the articulate detailing. It's tall, she thought and looked up. It was stuck in the action of leaning forward and screaming into its microphone.

She looked behind her, remembering the task at hand. It's going to take me ages to find my around, she thought and bit her lip nervously. She did not have ages.

Suddenly the speakers of the mall buzzed loudly and Stephanie's heart leapt out of her chest. But her worry soon turned into blood curdling anger when she heard who's voice spoke.

"Hello, hello, hello!" the girly voice sang dramatically through the speakers."My, look who we have here! Detective. So good to see you again. I knew you'd come to the rescue. You just had to, didn't you?"

"Vanessa? Am I correct?" Stephanie said with a bored expression.

"No!" Vanny cried angrily. "Don't call me that!" She composed herself and coughed lightly. "My name is Vanny."

"Alright, Vanny. I read your case file. Your work declared you missing a couple of months ago as well as missing machinery. That was you, wasn't it? You stole the equipment. Come on out, will you?" She turned, glaring angrily at a security camera that was positioned right towards her. I know you're watching me.

A large menacing smile broke onto Vanny's face as she stared back at Stephanie through the screen. The entire wall in front of Vanny was filled with TV's displaying different parts of the mall.

Behind her sat a young boy tied up in a corner. While Vanny was distracted he had been furiously attempting to bite through his binds.

"I'm flattered," Vanny said flatly, forgetting the boys presence behind her completely.

Stephanie clenched her fists to her sides. "Vanny, listen to me. You need to hand over the child and Mr Afton, then come with me to the police station. I will not harm you, okay? You just need to stop what you're doing."

Vanny felt insulted and she wrinkled her nose. "You dare defy me?! You're going to have to catch me, detective, if you want sweet Gregory to go back home. Alive."

The speakers made a high pitch beep and Stephanie sprinted off to the side to the brightly lit room. She stopped in her tracks when she was met with a maze of tall neon walls. She looked at a rack that held plastic guns and black leather vests with a glassy centre.

Laser tag? she thought to herself and scoffed. She took out her own, and very real gun, and held it to her side. That rebellious feeling overcame her again.

Ever since that sense heightening exercise she did back at Circus Baby's, her ears were sharp and focused on the slightest sounds. She'd never be as great as William, but she was getting there.

She walked slowly. Looking around every corner before walking. Being cautious with every step she took. Suddenly her body turned stiff as she felt eyes boring into her. She looked over her shoulder to see an animatronic a few metres away.

It was the same one portrayed by the statue at the entrance. It was tall and had orange tanned skin with a cream belly. It wore a small black top hat positioned askew on his head, with a blue strip and had a red earring pierced into his left ear. It had red and blew face paint that covered it eyes like a mask, and a thick strip of blue down its chin.
