This story was inspired by a horror game called 'Don't Open Your Eyes'.
I watched Markipler play it.Thunder booms outside my window, making me sit bolt upright.
It's pitch black, almost impossible to see even my hands a few inches in front of my face.
I sit still and listen carefully.
It doesn't sound like it's raining...
I look towards the window beside my bed but it yields no light.
It's just as black, or maybe blacker, outside than it is inside...
Almost like something is blocking it from the outside....*thump*
I freeze and slowly turn towards my door.
It's closed but someone- or something- appears to be knocking.
It knocks again, but this time harder.*THUMP*
My heartbeat quickens.
I do my best to quietly slip out of bed.
Then I run as silently as I can towards the light switch that is right right near my door and flick it on.
The bulb lights, flickers and goes out almost immediately.
That's weird... I changed that bulb a few days ago...*THUMP THUMP*
I fall backwards onto my butt, and hold back a scream.
I scoot back away from the door, one hand over my mouth, shaking violently with fear.
My back had just touched my bed when-*CRASH*
My door swung open to reveal a tall looming shadow.
It had tentacles coming out of its head and its eyes burner a darker black than I had ever thought possible.
It advanced, it's tentacles swaying with each step.
I tried to back up, but couldn't because I was already up against the bed.
I huddled up against the bed and stared up at the thing, terror prominent in my eyes.
It was so close to me...
All it had to do was reach out a slimy tentacle and I was sure it would be over for me.
And start to reach for me it did.
I could see the tentacle come closer and closer until I broke.
I screamed.
I screamed and screamed and screamed.
I screamed so much I started sobbing.
I pulled my knees up two my chest, buried my head in my arm and sobbed.
I waited for pain that never came."Honey!!?"
I opened my eyes.
The light is on and my mom and dad are standing in in my doorway, looking at me with great worry in their eyes.
I blink and look around.
I don't see the monster...
I run into my mom arms and sob.
"it was just a dream, just a dream..."
I cry and cry until I fall asleep in my mother's arms.
She smiled gently, then carried me to my bed and set me down, careful not to wake me.
I slept peacefully for the rest of the night.I probably wouldn't have slept so nicely had I seen the burning black eyes peeking out from underneath my bed...
So... that's it! This earned me the writer spot in my school newspaper.
My next one is going to be scary as well. It was a creative writing assignment.
The prompt was "it was a dark and stormy morning" or any variation of that.
So yea. Byeeeee!!!
