~ The Hitchhiker ~ Part 1.

Bones freezing to death, a delicate steam going out of her mouth as she could feel a cold draught hitting her bare skin. Wondering how this had happened, wondering what she could have done to make things different. Her past was eating up her inside as her thoughts were tormenting the girl's sanity.
- "How can people be so cruel.." She told herself again and again inside of that small and dark box she had been trapped in for hours. Fresh tears were running down her squishy cheeks and sobs could hardly leave her mouth because of how weak she felt at that time. As much as she wanted to die to make all this pain go away, she couldn't resign herself to give up on her life. She had a family, a mother who needed her at her bedside, and probably already wondering why she had not come already to give her her weekly medications and care. As much as living had been a struggle for her since the beginning, she was still bound to this poisoned yet beautiful gift that was life, and she couldn't be happier and thankful than to have been given the chance to live.
An almost inaudible clicking sound made Y/n snap out of her thoughts. She looked up as the boot opened itself slowly, revealing a strong morning gloom which was attacking the victim's vision. She had been plunged into darkness for so long that this sudden and bright light was burning up her retina. She tried to move but her members were tied up too strongly to the inside of the car. A veiny and manly hand was visible to her sight, but even with all the strength she tried to gather to get out of this trap at this time wasn't enough to break the chains retaining her. She was trapped, and at the mercy of a very cruel and mischievous man. For what reason? She couldn't even tell herself..
- "It will soon be over princess.."
'Laurie's pov' three days ago.
The sun was shining through the window, the small gloom heating up my face as my heavy eyelids were struggling to open themselves. I blinked a few times and, with a blurry vision, managed to get out of bed. This day, I had to pass an interview for a new job. I had recently entered the adult world and all of a sudden had to deal with so many responsibilities… Everything was just so overwhelming. All the responsibilities and work falling down on my face all at once. If I had not received the help of my uncle, I'm sure I would have already gone insane. I packed up all my stuff and went out of my house, ready to face this new and hopefully beautiful day.
I was lost in my thoughts, staring at the road and taking my turns almost robotically. I was a young driver and I couldn't deny driving was making me kind of stressed. It was dawn and the dark and blurry atmosphere because of the heavy fog wasn't helping. As much as I wanted to stay focused on the road, something caught my attention. I furrowed my eyebrows, trying to distinguish the small frame standing still next to the road, an outstretched arm and a thumb up. It was a hitchhiker. I glanced at the black figure but still hit the road since I was already kind of late for my interview. Even if I kind of wanted to help this person who surely needed it, this interview was really important to me, I needed money to help my sick mom. Her state was only getting better day by day which was really relieving, but her treatment was very expensive and I couldn't resign myself to miss a single week of payment nor my debt would only grow bigger.
I arrived at the big Brown's industry building. I felt my heart pounding very fast. It was the first time I presented myself for a job and I didn't really know how it would go but I had to give it a try, for my mother. I didn't lose any more second and entered the building. still feeling this knot inside of my stomach.
- "Good morning miss. How can I help you?" A very good looking woman said to me as soon as I stepped inside a small room at the back of the hallway.
- "I.. I am here for an interview with Mr. Brown." I mentally face palmed myself for stuttering. I really had to work on my confidence and abilities to talk to people if I wanted to get a job.
- "Sure. You're Miss. Anderson right? My employer was waiting for you, follow me please." The woman led me to an isolated room at the back of the building. There wasn't any sound except the sound of my high heels hitting the ground after each path. I entered the room and was welcomed by an intimidating yet familiar figure.
- "Good morning Mr. Brown, my name is Laurie Anderson, it's a pleasure to meet you." I bowed slightly and greeted him, earning a small smile from him. He motioned me to sit on the seat in front of him and that's what I did. Right after, the interview finally started...
I came out of the office feeling way less heavy than at my arrival. I had got the job without any problem and was a bit surprised to have been taken this quickly. I went back to my car and started driving towards my apartment. The day after would have been my very first day at work…
I was driving when I received a phone call from an unknown number.
- "Who might it be?" I said to myself, looking at my car screen, wondering if I should have picked the call up or not. I decided not to since I was a new driver and I thought that if it was important the person would call again.
I reached home after some time, pretty tired even if my day hadn't been really full. I threw myself on the sofa and started feeling my eyelids becoming heavier and heavier as time flew by. When my eyes were completely closed my phone started buzzing. I looked at the screen and saw it was from the unknown number from earlier. I furrowed my eyebrows, wondering who it was and decided to pick up the call.
- "H..Hi?" I said with a small and shaky voice, but received no answers... only a heavy and unsteady breath. I gulped down my saliva and listened closely to my phone when I heard a scream. I swiftly ended the call and threw my phone on the ground. My eyes got wide as I saw a tiny figure through the window approaching my house, very slowly and almost invisible in the heavy fog.
