I walked the halls of my new school seeing faces of people I used to know. They seemed startled as I passed them quietly. Quickly, I step into my 1st period class heading towards the back of the room, all eyes followed me as I sat in the far right corner.

A few years ago I went to this school system, I knew these people but after I left things changed. I decided to come back this year, as it is my Senior year of high-school, to hopefully graduate and start a new life.

Years ago, I, River Quinn was "normal"

Everyone adverted their eyes from me to the teacher as she walked to her desk setting papers down and going into roll call.

"Allison Beck"

"here"

"Emily Kane"

"here"

"Joeseph Kim"

"Sup Teach"
student snickered, I assumed this was the class clown.

she continued down the list until...

"Xen Lancer"

"Here did ya miss me Miss Davis?" said a boy walking past her, and straight down the row of desks.

"sit down before I call the dean down here again because you're late."

"wouldnt be the 1st time" said the student as he sat down in his seat.

I looked over in his direction. quickly turning away as he looked back at me.

"oh? looks like we have a new student? River Quinn would you like to introduce yourself to the class?"

" n-no not really"

The class seemed shocked by my statement. Xen continued to stare not even phased by what I had just said.

"oh ok then"

Class droned on and I grew overly bored so I decided to doodle in my notebook. When my drawing got interrupted by a pencil being tossed on my desk.
I peeked around the room to see Xen looking at me.

Looking back down I ignored him.  Finishing the flower on the side of my page another pencil flew onto my desk, this time it had a sticky note taped around it. I unwrapped it and read the note.

hey newbie meet me at lunch, you can sit with me and my friends. -Xen
inside I wanted to make friends but I just couldnt let people in and be a burden for them.

When I was about 8 or 9 i was diagnosed with 3 mental illnesses. Anxiety, depression, bipolar. In about 6th grade my parents shipped me to an all boys school, that was also a pychiractric therapy facility.
I was there for all my elementary and middle school years. when i got back I stayed homeschooled for the 1st years of highschool until my parents thought i was stable enough for real interactions.

hey guys new idea... how'd you like it so far? i felt like doing a story a bit more close to home for myself, so heres chapter one. :)
